Its the Caps series all over again. Cant get in the offensive zone. The games suck. We cant convert on the small mistakes CBJ does. Frustration and desperation but lack of effort. Dont know that to say. This is a freaking nightmare.

Cooper had a great regularseason last year aswell and with the addition of our young guys, Point taking another step, McD all year, Vasy more experienced.. Of course this team would be better. That has never been a problem, Coop being outcoached in the playoffs is.

Me and FedsStammer said this in november. But now he is extended and will have to learn to adapt next year instead..

Its like there is a conspiracy among Eastern coaches that they have a tactic to stop Tampa but only uses it in the postseason. And Coop has no idea what the hell is going on. Because CBJ is playing just like Caps did.

This team is stacked makes no sense, aside from it has a ton of Rangers who always seem to blow it year after year

The Bolts need to strip Stamkos of the C in the offseason. He has obvious shortcomings as a leader and always disappears in the playoffs.

Stralman, Girardi, Colburn and Rutta are all UFAs.

That's fine and point taken. I meant I wouldn't make changes just because this series is going bad. Obviously there is always some roster changes and the cap can force your hand a bit. I just wouldn't overreact and look to move some significant because this series isn't going well.

yeah i get that - but as great as Tampa are something isnt working in the playoffs - I think they're constructed properly, just not pulling it together at the right time.

I guess I'm not sure about the all Cooper stuff. Once he changed the lines last night they played better. Is everyone saying his game plan is not changing based on how the players on the ice are performing? I'm not sure anyone knows what he's asking of the players and if they are able to execute or not. Kucherov taking a selfish penalty, Hedman being hurt isn't on Cooper. Now I'm also not saying Cooper is making the right moves, putting the right game plan together because we don't know. Bottom line, it's easy to blame the coach but the players have to play. The guys getting paid a lot of money have to show up. Jackets are going high blocker side on Vasey all day, where is that adjustment? Stamkos isn't shooting the puck, Cooper can't make Stamkos shoot the puck. McDonough has not picked up his pace of play, he's playing regular season speed, Cooper can't make him work harder. Sergachev passing a lazy pass right through the crease, almost going in his own net, not sure any coach draws that play up. The players have to wake up and play, if they don't season over tomorrow, if they do they are talented enough to win the series.

LOL People complaining TBay should get a bye. Do you honestly think this team would play any better after having an extra week or so off? The coasted for the past month or so and they are coasting now. They though CBJ would be easy. No team is easy in the NHL.

even still, it should still be a tighter series. the only rational explanation i can think of is that in that third period of game 1, the Lightning got kicked in the teeth for the first time all year and are so out of practice responding to any type of adversity that's it's taking a few games to get their mojo back. we all marvelled at how TB basically avoided B2B losses all year but this could be the flip side of that. because no amount of coaching/game planning/effort should be enough to shut this Lightning team down like this because when Tampa is on, there is no defending them.

They were believing the hype. It happens to teams that blow through the regular season, set records, etc. The media and fans proclaim them predetermined champion and the players start to buy in. They think they just have to show up.

Enter the underdog, who know one thinks has a chance. You know, Rocky, the 1980 US Olympic team...anyone other than Washington in the East, especially a Blue Jackets team that has been underwhelming and inconsistent since the trade deadline. Sure, they got hot at times, but no one (NO ONE) thought that Tampa might get swept.

For the Jackets, they could ride this all the way to the Finals. A few years ago, the Preds swept the Blackhawks in the first round. They weren't record setting like Tampa, but it was a cathartic moment for the Preds, that momentum got them to the finals. Perhaps this is the Jackets moment.

This is what makes sports so great. If everyone who was supposed to win, did, the playoffs would be boring.
