and the barest prospects pipeline of any team - wiz1901
They will move Malkin, Kessel and anybody other than Crosby in the off-season in order to start rebuilding. |

Not to be overlooked, London was up 3-0 in their series against Guelph them the Storm stormed back to take the series 4-3.
If figures, Stan drafts the complete choker Boqvist. If he’s the d-man of the future how can he left the Storm come back. Pathetic. He should be traded now. - DarthKane

Sometimes in the same period. He is such a knob. |

Thinking about going as Pierre for Halloween. Found a pretty good McGuire costume.

Tampa choking again should make those who would always say "Anyone could have won with the talent Q had"...kinda shows how hard it is to win 1 let alone 3.
And should shut up when those same critics said he had stacked teams prior but didnt win. Its actually tough to win Cups. |

The playoffs are a reminder of how important defense and defensive intensity is.
I laugh watching Lehner, half the time he doesn't know where the puck is and his body language says whatever, it'll find me eventually - BetweenTheDots

Tampa didn’t choke, they got out coached, out played, and out hustled. |

Doesn’t matter what the mechanics of it were, when you tie the regular season point record and get swept in the first round, that’s a choke. |
|
|

Yep but dmen have to have awareness of where the forwards are, limit breakaways, i think Boston in game 1 gave up 5-6 breakaways/2 on 1s |

It's the definition of choking |

So they weren’t as prepared, didn’t play as well and didn’t try as hard.....so what is choking then?

I believe the regular season is to practice team defense, when Q coached the Hawks that's what they did, I'm seeing the same thing with the Islanders, they are so methodical shift after shift after shift which is leading to the Pens frustration. Pens have had some chances but just missing open nets
The way the Hawks play defense, not a chance - BetweenTheDots
Thanks for your response. Agree with this and your other post stressing how critical defense is in the playoffs. Discipline, commitment, and structure. |

I cut and paste this post and emailed it to Gustafsson.
Kidding aside, the whole team needs to support each other. Team defense would go a long way to improve organically. The question is are there the right set of players where each one of them commits to this for a whole 60 minutes. |

I got give major kudos out to Wheeler at the Athletic for showing both sides of Bowen Bryam...
As I stated, he seems to think the gifts he has of the great skater mean he can compensate, and in truth it is more of a matter of having SO much offensive jam, that he was never asked to spend time learning his position, and he honestly, in my opinion is not sure on the positioning because he has offensive blinders.
Make no mistake that he thinks the offensive part way mo' better than many a NHL push defender already, reads surveys and executes, but team sport always allow great players leeway but they still have to know when to pull back in big situations too.
And on Boqvist being the reason London gets ousted:
Pretty big thick roster to blame there too. Boqvist needs more time but looks like a keeper, but do we really know what the freak Ian Michell really plans?
and this idea the hawks are willing to trade a drafted defender, that seems evident if you has som any similar but is someone coming calling with late first round help for unproven talent when they can get some with that same pick?
I see the idea as viable if if fills a now need of a LD maybe.
and yes Entwistle can and will play up and down their line-up I feel, he is cool and makes guys better.
If a trade of drafted deeman happens WE R getting Bowen Bryam! |

I think being the odds on favorites and then not only getting swept but completely decimated qualifies as choking. |

Hey Wiz, Al mentioned on Twitter last week that Pod skate a lot with his head down and that seems to be the case in the limited times I've watched him. What are your thoughts about him being able to survive the pro game given his wreckless abandon? - Larmer
I went back and looked, and Podkolzin does skate a little hutched over, but so did Mike Gartner for the tune of 50 goals.
His stride and the cage seem to cause what looks like his head is more downward but I KNOW the kid really surveys the ice well, so he must has a Gille Marotte stubby neck, and the appearance is deceiving.
Cozens on the other hand, skates more upright, but you will notice that as the close on goalies most get more hunched for the shot.
I know answered this twice. |

Not sure if in the exact same way as Podkolzin and Gartner but Havlat skated hunched over sometimes, too. Don't think his fragility was due to that hunching over, though. |

Very poor business decision by Svechnikov. The only one worse would have been to challenge Tom Wilson who would have been delighted to kill the kid. - RickJ
I might have made all this in my mind, and thought about digging out the video tape of that Teravainen draft...they showed Bowman AFTER Washington picked Wilson, and he did that well we need to get o work shrug with his face, that made me think their board got shifted so close yet so far.
Freaking Wilson is a game changer no matter what rules change. |

Reading the Lightning blog on HockeyBuzz. Some of the posters are ready to trade Killorn, Johnson, Palat, etc. Some of them have NMC/NTCs. One poster wants to even trade Point. |

I’m sure they’re upset right now. As bad as we felt in 2017 they have to feel much worse right now. |
