What's better for this team in the next three years:

Skinner at $8.5

Or

Sheary/Olofsson at 1LW

I'll take your answer off the air

Depends on what you are spending the $5.5M on. Unless you are a franchise game changer on the wing, big money should be spent down the middle and on defense. We are better with Olofsson as 1LW and Duchene as 2C then Skinner as 1LW and Erod as 2C. Now if Mitts can take hold of the 2C role next year and run with it then that changes things.

Skinner for Duchene is a decent trade, but when you fail to sign Duchene, the options get really bad really fast.

you need to stop with that because he is worth that money and will get it or close to it. Just the way the NHL works. 3 or 4 teams will pay him.
- SABRES 89

Who? I don't even think the sabres will give him that for max term.

Serious question - do you think Duchene would want to sign in Buffalo? Skinner is a known thing and he apparently likes his teammates (see Master's photos) and living in the area. There's a lot greater chance of signing him than Duchene in my opinion. Ideally we do both but we would have to clear some significant cap space to do that.

There are ways to get both Skinner and Duchene.

So if skinner is.worth 9, what's Duchenne worth 10? Ill take Matthews tavares.and.nylander and not be able to sign the best player.on.my team.
thanks.

I think landing Duchene is a long shot. I think letting Skinner go to take a shot at him is flat out crazy.

I've never heard anyone suggest he's asking for more than Stone.

We aren't talking about Matthews, Marner and JT, we are talking about Skinner and Duchene. Hard to say what each are worth but that Stone contract may be an issue for the Sabres and Skinner, IMO Duchene is not worth 10 a year. Skinner 8- 8.5, Duchene 8, then Dahlin and Reinhart, we may be pushing it. We need to dump boat anchor contracts.

I can't imagine landing Duchene for 8. Would be nice, but I just can't imagine it.

- Pegullaville

But what about moving forward?
Let’s say 3 years from now, when Mitts should be a really good 2C
That’s when we will be competing for the Cup right?
So at that point...
is it better to have Skinner sniping 40goals,
or Duchene as a 60ish point winger?

Before this year (70pts as 1C),
Duchene had 59pts, 41pts, 59pts, 55pts

And there’s actually ppl on here who complained about you know who doing that (plus being a good 2 way player) at 7.5mil...
But then wanna sign Duchene for 9mil???

NO FREAKING WAY
He’s a good player, but he’s not “great”

Overpaying for him when we have Mitts growing into that role is just a bad idea

No thanks
Looking like his stats just got inflated in Ottawa bc they used him at 1C
If it was only for a year or 2, then maybe
But that’s just too long of a deal for a guy that’s not producing like a 2C these past 2 seasons

Unless we can get a mid-tier guy like maybe Hayes or Nelson at a decent contract (probably not likely)...
Then we should really just stick with Mitts at 2C & let him develop into the really good player he can be

Making a long term mistake should not be an option either though

Gotta find the right fit,
not just overpay someone who’s only “good”
