I don't think Skinner's drought is a valid criticism because it's not like Stafford in 2011 where he scored half of his 30 goals in 5 games. I don't think Skinner even had a hat trick. Whether he spread the remaining goals out more, it wouldn't have had a material impact on the standings because no one ever picked up the slack

Bad Roster Conclusion #4 - Depth

Coaching candidate Benoit Groulx

Some background. I'm a season ticket holder for the Syracuse Crunch. I've watched the team go from good coach to bad coach back to another good coach in approximately 7 years. I can't sing the praises of Benoit Groulx enough. It's been a fantasy of mine to see him one day coach the Sabres and now that it can be a reality, I'm clamoring at the opportunity. Yes we all know Tampa is very good at drafting and developing young prospects, but if anyone does any research, they'll realize the Crunch themselves have never had outstanding depth, good depth, but not the greatest. Groulx in the 3 years he's been coach has won 2 division titles (sorry Roch), an Eastern Conference championship as well as coaching the team to two of their most successful regular seasons in franchise history and that's just the past 3 years. I know their's a lot of reserve when it comes to hiring a successful AHL coach within a successful organization who at one point was unsuccessful coaching Rochester, but I can assure you this is their best option. As someone who wants an experienced NHL head coach and who absolutely hated Phil Housley about half way through his first season, I still think Groulx is by far the best option behind Joel Quenneville. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges when it comes to AHL vs. NHL, however look at the stats of the Crunch this year, they're remarkable. They'll more than likely finish the season with the most goals for and the least goals against - in other words the best offensive and defensive team in the league. If Groulx becomes the Sabres HC and does half of what he has done in the AHL, that's a HUGE win\turning point for the franchise.

yeah that is right, but remember the NHL now has the 1 week tampering period prior to July 1, so Skinner can still see what is out there and still sign for 8 with the Sabres... I think that is what Stamkos did in Tampa..

I moved to Denver almost 3 years ago... beautiful place, but the food is trash; and it's super expensive to live here. Read somewhere that there's ~2k people leaving every month due to the cost of living.

I plan on moving back to Buffalo next summer. I love it there. Winters are tough obviously, but it's worth it.

Plus all the family and friends are there, too...
