Generally by the time players hit his age, they've already declined quite a bit. He's had a good year, but the odds on him playing at this level, even just next year, are not good.

And Chara is on his last legs. He's VERY slow these days, and will become a liability soon enough.

Take those 2 out, and look at the roster. It really isn't overly good.

I'd also be curious to see what MArchand and Pastrnak look like without Bergeron.

He just signed next year for $2 milly, with an additional $1.75 milly in incentives (I'm going to go ahead and assume he earns it all).
