Good because they have no one on their current roster who is capable of after whistle schematics.

And with that announcement I terminate my 39 year relationship as a Flyers fan, he is awful with young players, should have stuck with Hextall as GM, and Gorton as coach, this is going to blow up in their faces.......

Anyone who claims theyre a fan for 39 years and cant even spell the head coach's (ex-head coach) last name correctly, prob not that big of a fan

So many other better choices out there. Man come on.
He has a real justified reputation as not working well with younger guys and the flyers goalie of the future is what 22... good luck ...

- dozerD10

what are allll these other better choices out there? the first thing is, if a coach is available, they failed at their last job so gotta keep that in mind. so out of all the "failures" out there, who else would be better?

Unfortunately going for an inexperienced coach just kinda wasted 4 years for us so they weren't going down that route, so that excluded Keefe. And guys like Boudreau, Yeo, Sutter (retired i believe), Therrien, Hitchcock (retread) and DJ Smith are the main coaches out there that come to mind. AV is more accomplished than all of them, and I love how Fletcher didnt waste any time. Now they can prepare for the draft and the off season with almost not wasting any time.

AV is the best of whatever scraps are out there. If it wasn't going to be Quenville, then I can't think of any better option. We went the unknown/college route.... We've tried the "former flyer" to death. At least Vigneault has proven results. If he alienates "the kids", that's gonna suck... but if we start winning again? I'll get over it.

Ok 1st of all he’s not more qualified than Hitch...

2nd - I was thinking of Keefe and Gronborg the Swedish head guy. But if Flyers didn’t want to go inexperienced at NHL gig Ok.

Still care to explain how he’s changed regarding youngsters and the history he has as terrible with young kids and the Flyers have quite a few.

he was in the playoffs every year in Vancouver that he was there, got to a cup. got to the cup in his first year with a new york team that 100% overacheived. i wouldnt go so far as to calling us a joke just yet. this was the best hire out there, he's 12th in nhl history in wins, that doesn't happen by accident.

The 2014 NYR team was Torts team, as those guys left and youngsters came in, AV showed his worts.

Just look at Buchnevich and Vesey..both played much better under Quinn. AV is good with veteren team. Always has been and always will be

I am pretty un impressed.

This means that "the powers that be" have decided to go in for the next two to three years. That means that any prospects will sit in favor of any vet.

I had no faith in Fletcher as a hire and now, I have even less. This is going to be a disaster.

all this paranoia about Vigneault sitting the kids and overplaying the old trusty vets

Chill. Can't happen won't happen. Flyers have almost no older players to overplay.

Their 5 oldest forwards:

31 Giroux
30 Raffl
29 Voracek
29 JVR
26 Couturier

Here's how old their D is:

32 MacDonald
28 Gudas
25 Gostisbehere
24 Hagg
23 Sanheim
23 Morin
22 Provorov
22 Myers

Once the Buzztron is adjusted for the coaching change the Philly results should be refreshed to finish next year at 81-0-0.

Also, I wonder why none of Ek's sources tipped him off on this? I mean, it's the Flyers!
