Hmmm, let’s see...
1. A pervasive unwillingness to realistically assess situations
2. An irrational exuberance over their team’s capabilities
3. Huge mood swings between euphoria and despair
Yep, that checks out. - Chief4Feathers

Except for the second point. Even when the team was sending like 5-6 guys to the All-Star game and winning Cups, there was a lot of anxiety and assuredness that the team was built for the regular season yet would fold like a cheap suit when the play got too hard for them. |

Justin Lowe: Playoffs… I'm Talking Playoffs
I listened to sports radio on the drive in this morning here in Toronto and as I sit on the train, there's a lot cloud of disappointment that is very evident. The Leafs lost in Game #7 (again) to the Boston Bruins (again).
Once again, it made me appreciate the Hawks success and the opportunities that management, coaching staffs and players seized when the winning was within reach.
Here are some playoff thoughts in my brain this morning. - Justin Lowe
I don't know if anyone addressed this but you have replay (frank)ing use it. The NHL is so 19th century that it had a huge effect on a game 7 playoff game. Human error thats what the NHL owners are. I imagine it will be proposed finally same with no face punching since the Russian is still out.
Glad i feel asleep between the 1st and 2nd period |

Nordstrom didn't stand out when he was here so if Q offed him I wouldn't have blamed him. |

So I have a question for everyone here who thinks Hayden should be traded. Have you been watching the playoffs? If so then if we trade Hayden - who will step up on the 4th line and provide the kindly of physicality that is needed come playoff time? There is NO ONE in the Hawks pipeline that I can think of other than Hayden that can deliver hits (or take hits) like Buff, Brouwer, Bickell, Eager or Burrish to name a few that the Cup winning teams had. Caggiluia is Shaw like and has that compete level but who else? Also, which of our three prized prospects on defense who are all under 6' and under 190 lbs would survive the kind of playoff hockey we are witnessing? Gilbert and maybe Hillman are the only two defensemen that could withstand the pounding that defensemen take in the playoffs.
Hello Stan - are you too busy watching all the lightweights in Europe or do you pay attention to what playoff teams (including our Cup winning teams) that contend for the Cup have on defense and forwards?
Sorry for the rant but I am sick of drafting or signing Smurfs in order to what.....???? |

He wasn’t flashy, but I thought he was a solid role player. Better than most of the garbage the Hawks have trotted out on the bottom 6 lately. |

Watching Carolina series, is that what our man to man defense suppose to look like?
I have to admit Teuvos game looks good, little timid along the walls but, blocking shots, stopping at the front of the net |

You don't see link between a high profile coach feuding with his GM as happen in both places / TO will not make the same mistake the HAWKS made, and wait to long to fire Babs .Their AHL coach will be coaching TO next year . - oldduffman
Don't be so fast with that assumption.. Fans will tear someone down looming at anegative point without considering the entire picture. It is like a lawyer sounding off withour doing his homework on the case. Babcock coached the ladt Olympics or one of them, anyways. Why did Toronto want to hire him? Would another coach had more success than Babcock |

The NFL, a rather successful modern league, had the same problem in the NFC Championship game. If every marginal play is reviewed, the the games will take 5 hours.
Replay was originally instituted to correct obviously missed calls in specific situations. A referee has the latitude to access no penalty, 2 minutes or 5 for a cross check. That play didn’t lose the series for LV. Blowing a 3 games to 1 lead and a 3-0 score with 10 minutes left in the game did. 4 goals in a 5 minute PP shows Vegas lost focus & stopped playing their game during the PP.
They could have won by going into a shell. The cross check on the face off was completely unnecessary. |

Agree on all points unless hawks can upgrade from hayden. Then yes trade him to me hayden just needs to play more and be more consistent which comes from playing more. Need more N.A. players with an edge to their game which is needed in the playoffs. |

Nonsense, game misconduct is a huge call. The way i understand it he cross checked him in the chest. The NFL did the right thing, i doubt these morons will. Im not concerned about who won or lost just get the call right, they have these wonderful tools at their disposal |
