ARthur yes, but they traded the 3rd round pick to Detroit for Jurco in February of 2017. - SteveRain
Yes, a deal Bowman spent weeks, if not months, in the making. |

Regarding the rehash of the Teuvo trade, I think he needed Finnish teammates to have a chance to thrive. He didn't have that here, aside from Raanta. His game went up a notch when Timonen came here, and he regressed a bit the next season. In Carolina he got that chance to thrive. |

We don't know if this was true. - paulr
That's why I hedged by saying "seemed". I don't really care what hockey players do specifically in the offseason as long as they show up when it is time to work. Everyone is different, and some guys can get along quite well simply on the natural skill.
I lament losing him because he is a good player, but it's not like our top 6 is missing having him - although he is a bit better defensively than guys like ADB and Strome thus far.

LOL....that's true....it was nice to see Pirri make it with Vegas...he played some deccent minutes in the game 7.
Whos filing out that last spot in the 4 some? - SteveRain
Pirri is such an idiot. He had some real good offensive capabilities but was brutal without the puck. Anyone can learn to play defense, it's all about positioning and hard work. If Pirri had put the effort in he could have have had a decent NHL career instead of being a tweener between the AHL and NHL. |

The Hawks site has clips of Colliton's end of season Q&A (Stan's too). They both address the man-to-man question. According to them, there are times when they use it, but it is not an overarching concept. They explain it much better than I can. - Chunk
Yeah and the last thing I want to see happen is the GM telling the head coach how to coach and what systems he should use. That’s a recipe for disaster! |

I wasn't one of those calling for TT to be movced and I wish now he hadn't been but there were allot of false stories going around about many things regarding the Blackhawks. |

I would think Man to man would be susceptible to offensive pick plays and you just know coaches will devise all kinds of offensive movement and stationary picks to make the defenders stop dead in their tracks allowing the offense to create odd man advantges. I could understand calling man to man in certain situations to try to stop an offensive that is applying all kinds of pressure but I'm not really sure how man to man can work as the sole means of defensive coverage? - paulr
Like man to man defenses in basketball there can be switches and hand offs when there are pick plays. Also like basketball there are ways to attack a zone and ways to attack a man to man. But for each attack there is a counter. The key is having all 5 players know exactly what there responsibility is in any situation. |

Bowman doesn’t put off that kind of vibe of being the kind of boss who would be in your lane telling you how to do the specifics of your job.
McD, on the other hand, seems like the kind of tool who would be doing that all the time... |

Still are......the thing that baffles me is how does the beat writers covering this team for years NOT pick up on Hossa's condition? I mean he missed a SCF final game vs Boston because of it and all those "maintenance days"....crazy.
Maybe 1 guy saw it and Hossa asked him/her not to say anything and they didn't. Just weird to me...….
Problem here is, is that none of the media or beat guys are on the pulse of trades etc. Nobody breaks a thing. |

Horrific move? Leddy and TT were traded for cap space and or to try to win another championship. In hindsight Leddy was a great move keeping Oduya to win the third cup and it was unlikely the Hawks would have been able to re-sign Leddy due to cap considerations. TT was moved again for cap considerations, moving Bickell's contract. I guess maybe Bowman should have known Bickell had MS and would have been able to be put on LITR? Danault was a bad move because it appeared Bowman and Quenneville weren't on the same page on that one. And Seabrooke's contract was a really bad move. - paulr
100% this. TT was moved to clear cap space. People need to stop pushing a false narrative.... we get it, you don’t like Stan.

Bettman wouldn't nor NBC - LAHawk
In terms of TV Markets it is
East
25 v 1 (and a weak audience for NYI)
34 V 9
West
4 V 21
8 V 17
No 2,3 or Canada...

Wasn’t Pirri with the Hayes brothers complaining about call-ups and ice-time? I recall something about text messages from the elder Hayes alongside the lines of “Free Pirri.”
That struck me as he’s an entitled d-bag. |

Random thoughts and guesses on where prospects and other youngsters will be next season...
Blackhawks: D Sikura, Highmore, Hayden, Jokiharju, C Dahlstrom, Delia
Potential Free Agents: Kubalik, Mikheyev, Wedin
Europe: J Dahlstrom, From, Nordgren, Galvas, Laavainen
KHL: Altybarmakyan, Kayumov, Shalunov, Nalimov
NCAA: Barratt, Foo, Slavin, Wise, Ess, Mitchell, Shea
Juniors: Hakkarainen, Boqvist, Gravel
HOGS
Assumptions:
1) Beaudin goes pro after the QMJHL playoffs
2) Soderlund signs an ELC to start playing in North America
3) Veteran RFAs in Louis and T Sikura are resigned
4) Forsling and Koekkoek are also resigned
Versteeg - Kurashev - Hagel
Entwistle - L Johnson - Louis
Soderlund - Nilsson - Ejdsell
T Sikura - R Johnson - Knott
Noel, Fortin
Forsling - Carlsson
Gilbert - Krys
Beaudin - Hillman
Tuulola, Koekkoek
Forsberg
Lankinen
FUEL
Starrett, Olofsson, Ramsey, Ryzcek, Tomkins - AEL_Fox
If the Hawks draft an NHL ready player, sign a 3C and a couple of veteran power forwards there may not be enough spaces for 3 forwards (Sikura, Highmore and Hayden). I am thinking 1 or at the most 2 of the 3 are on the opening day roster.
Kane, Toews, Saad, ADB, Strome, Kahun, Kampf, Caggiula, AA (probably gone)? #3 pick? #3c FA/trade? veteran bottom 6 FA?

Hockey isn't one of the top sports in Chicago. All the money for beat writers is going to Football, basketball and baseball I'd imagine. I doubt much gets by the Bears, Bulls or Sox/Cubs writers. |

No, but the network has the story......and Joe "winning" his final year makes for great TV. |

While not impossible, it’s unlikely the player selected with the #3 pick is going to be NHL ready. However, I’d love to be wrong on this one. |

So losing Teravainen was worth clearing $3.6 in space? - BINGO!
Dear God are you done beating this dead horse? It’s all you got. The Hawks let go of a player looking back they should have kept or got better value for. for christ sake let it go. I’m sure there are mistakes that the almighty canes have made over the years but honestly I don’t care enough to look them up. I enjoy your comments here but you make tt out to be Gretzky |
