Was Q already an American citizen by then?
- LAHawk[/quote

I don't know and what would that matter? HE was an assistant on the last Olympic team....does Canada only employ Canadian citizens as it's head coach?

Well in fairness couldn't you wonder if Bowman SR was helping Babcock out in Detroit during their last run of cup appearances?

Also, lets be honest......those trade(s) on draft day that Q had "his hissy fit" didn't work out so well for the Hawks.

Saad is 3rd line player, and Forsberg wont' be in the organization much longer. Meanwhile Panarin is a legit star.

Hammer is the type of defenseman this team is missing, while Murphy is...….well what is Murphy exactly?

You have a point...the hissy fit may have been warranted

He didn't handle it correctly but I get the anger behind it. He ran his course here, and time to move on....

What will be interesting to see if Q going to FLA allows them to be a legit contender for Panarin this summer.

I agree. He has a certain skill set, but I don't think you can fix stupid.

I like Murphy Jhammmer best days are behind him well Murphy even after Q Complete Mishandling of him are still ahead of him . Panarin deal was made for financial reasons something Q and his new golf buddy have NO concept of . Fosberg another of Q sabotaging of any deal Stan made will likely leave for greener pastures not Stan fault . How on Gods green earth did Ward get every start to start the season, even a back to back with a SV%.856 . And Forsberg was the better goalie coming out of Camp ...

Forsberg wasn't even the best goalie in Rockford.

Saad and Forsberg made a combined 7mil - Panarin was only making 6. What did that save financially?

Connor Murphy wouldn't be entitled to wear Hammer's dirty jockstrap now or in year's previous. And Q knew that.

To quote Stan, it provided “cost certainty moving forward”, or something to that effect.

You sure about that I don't follow AHL much, Forsberg has the best pedigree of any of our prospects in net . We are climbing out of cap Hell now and that move was a big part of it . At the time HAWKS were looking at losing Parnaian and Jhammer for nothing

Columbus is risking losing him, Duchene, Bobrovsky all for nothing....and they're moving on.

If we had 72 this year are we winning the cup?No.
Would we have made the playoffs? Probably
Would we be able to resign him ? Probably not and be able to reup dcat and strome
If we did make the playoffs we wouldn’t have the 3rd pick.

All good points. It is near impossible to forecast what would've happened several years after a move or two.

The Johnny Hockey fiasco come playoff time, got my attention. There are regular season wunderkids, and men who love Playoffs. Regular season guys who rack up points who keep stadiums filled. I'm not saying one bad word about our beloved Dinky, or comparing the two. What I am saying is that I'd listen to anyone with a reasonable offer that would benefit both clubs. To not listen would be silly. There are very few Denis Savards and Patrick Kane's in this world.

As impossible as is it to say they couldn't win a cup had they made the playoffs. Who would have guessed some of the upsets they have now.

It's the same BS when people spew "any coach would have won with the Hawks talent"

Q was upset when they moved 2 huge parts and based on the return, he may have been right with his assessment. It doesnt matter at this point anyway

That's great. Aristophanes sure sounds like he had all the makings to be Greece's first great hockey coach.

Q might have been right at the time for the short run. But suppose Saad is traded for a Oduya level defenseman this summer? Would that team look better than one without Panarin? Gets harder to analyze as time goes on.
