I'm fine with calling this a penalty.

It wasn't a 5 min major.

If I was a Golden Knights fan, I'd be livid today.

Gave us some pretty god damn good hockey though.

Holy Sh!t Ek it was a penalty. At least 2 min for the crosscheck and another 2 min for Stasny taking out his legs. At least a 5 on 3 but how bout not getting scored on 4 times in 5 min? The blood is what pushed the refs to 5 min. Hard to fault the refs on that one.

if I was a Knights fan I'd be WAAAYYYY more pissed at my PK units than I would be at the refs. how do you give up 4 goals on one PP in that situation?

It was a 2 minute minor. It wasn't worthy of a 5 minute major.

Eakins cross check was the penalty, but the combination of Pavelski being off balance and Stastny pushing off of him is what caused the injury. It really was a poor call.

I agree that any major where the refs did not have a clear view should be reviewable. I'm not even a Knights fan, this just goes to show things happen to fast for the human eye to catch.

Plays like that happen on almost every face off. Terrible result but there is a reason the refs didnt have a penalty called until they saw blood on the ice. Would have been a weak call at 2 minutes. Brutal call for 5 and a game.

You can debate the call but if you allow FOUR goals in four minutes, you deserve to lose. Not to mention having a 3-1 series lead...

The refs and the call will be the scape goat, but this is one major choke job for Vegas.

The West is so wide open at this point. It's going to be fun to watch.

It was routine cross check. The type of cross check that gets called when the ref is in the mood.

Would Vegas be heading to Colorado? Yes, most likely, but they should be able to not melt down during a 5 min major.

Penalty, Yes. 5-minute major, maybe not. Probably 2 minors, a cross check and an interference, but the refs tend to swallow their whistles in the playoffs on most interference calls. Resulting injury = 5 minute penalty. This is really the only on-ice way of combating serious injury, like it or not.
Regardless, Vegas completely collapsed and the Sharks responded when necessary. Allowing 4 goals on a five minute major is unheard of especially in the playoffs and more importantly Game 7. The call didn't doom Vegas their PK did.
Oh, and that goal was a high stick. If it wasn't I'm not sure what a high stick is these days. Come on Toronto, this isn't the NFL, if you are going to have review get it right.

For sure that was a cross check. The refs don't call those penalties consistently though and no way do they call it in playoffs, much less game 7, 3rd period playoffs. I think if the referring was the same in the playoffs as the regular season, no way Eakins does that. Refs suck !
