I'm probably not going to be happy if they bring him back. They already re-upped Raffl for the bottom 6. We need roster spots for kids at some point.

Why would Toronto trade us Marleau for Amac , only saves them $1.5M? They can trade him for peanuts and just take the savings.

I'm with this as well. It isn't guaranteed that anyone is ready to take a spot, but I agree.

This summer is going to be huge for the Flyers. They could use a 2C, a top 4 defenseman and a backup goalie, but their biggest need and has been for 7-8 years is a team leader. Not a leader in front of the media, not a community leader, but a TEAM leader.

Man I miss Pronger.

I'd also argue that with AV that is in itself a new type of leadership and the style of play he comes with can be something the team buys in around. Look at his Ranger teams, not the most skilled but they played a s a team.

I think we need a stronger leadership core but I would argue we need more depth and to become more gritty. I’m not saying these are the end all’s but these have bugged me for a number of years.

Who else is going to take a 6 million dollar 39 year old? Both AMac and Marleau have 1 year left and Toronto needs a decent amount of space. They will have 6 mill in cap space after the cap jumps up about 3 mill. With Marner, Johnson, Kapanen needing to be signed and needing to replace 3 Dmen

I think they could make a better deal and give up a prospect or a draft pick to a team that would take on the full cap hit. The issue is that I don't see Marleau going to a team that is not going to contend at this point in his career.

Agreed. AV is the first coach they'll have had since Lavi that really knows what he's doing at a NHL level.
