It sort of says to mccrimmon we didnt value you all that much until you were about to leave. Now that teams are calling we will give you a raise and promotion. Ironically he was prob already doing the gm job already. It was a fabourable situation vegas found themselves in with the gift expansion. The mistake they made was not going all for it last year. This year regression and prob more to come next year.

I think they did "go for it" with the Stone deal and losing an elite prospect in Erik Brannstrom. With their cap crunch this summer, they certainly can be a lesser team next season, depending on the maneuvering.

They were in the cup finals. How is that not going for it?

They are positioned pretty well going forward. Just need the right center and we will see. I don't think they really regressed all that much. Played well still, lost in a game 7 against a good team.

He's still president of hockey ops for Vegas. Besides, I don't think the other GMs would fall for his tricks again at the expansion draft.

I'm sure you're one of the many experts who were laughing at the team they had picked, and saying they were going to win 30 games max that first year only to later moan and female dog about how they were handed an awesome team by the league.

Wishful thinking on the regression part as well, they're going to have the Stastny line for a full year and will be stacked for the upcoming season as well. Although it will definitely look somewhat different with the cap.

This year i agree i meant the expansion year. Guys were all having "ill show you" years to their old teams plus they loaded with so many top dmen that can move the puck. In fairness Mcphee did say he wanted to build a contender for years to come and not just one awesome year. Prob why im not a gm of a team and he is.

Not all. That was the most puck moving mobile d crew u can build even if expansion rules helped. Getting fluery was a gift from god plus some of the forwards they scooped. I didnt see cup favourite but def top 15 in the league. Regression i only meant when guys get their raises and cap problems arise. Every team regresses cause of the cap.

They are there now. They can't resign all their FAs and remain under cap. The Pacioretty-Stastny-Stone line makes a whole lot of money.....

Stone: $9.5 mil
Patches: $7.0 mil
Stastny: $6.5 mil

A total of $23 million out of an $83 million (projected) cap is going to one line....

Thing is McPhee was smart and got a lot of draft picks to be able to stock the cupboards with the young cheap talent to augment their window being open now. They are not in a bad space at all really.
