Put simply, he's the best player, and arguable the most popular, in Preds history. Of course he gets that honor, with or without a cup.

Yes, they will. It's a no brainier, regardless of how you feel about his play the past couple of years. It's doesn't change what he's done the rest of his career. He's the only Predator anywhere close to being deserving of the honor and, while you can't predict what'll happen in the next couple of years, might be the only impact player they've had to spend his entire career here. Retiring numbers has little to do with how many championships you've won, or how the rest of the league perceives you. It has everything to do with the impact that player has had on his team, the fan base, and the community he plays for. Pekka's beloved here, and even the fans ready for Saros to take over will tell you that. One of the coolest dudes you could ever meet too.

I'm quite curious to see Paul's blog on the defense... Specifically as it pertains to Ryan Ellis... I doubt Paul is ever going to outright bash a player on the team, but it's going to be really hard to put a positive spin on Ellis' performance this year. The other three guys all had ups and downs this year, plenty of points to gush over and criticize. Ellis will be really hard to defend... Hopefully Paul doesn't resort to claiming Ellis has been inured all year... Way too convenient an excuse, and if true, just another reminder why Poile never should've signed this guy long term in the first place.

I'll be honest here, I don't really expect detailed analysis about the team from this blogger. It's more like a press release from the team than a critical eye. Just wait for the special teams edition. "They'll work it out..."

This guy is something. It is sad there are people like this. Their star player at the very least beat up a cab driver over pocket change, probably assaulted women and they will hang a banner for him. Probably fitting for team and city like Chicago.
