Marner's contract is going to get interesting.

too much money for a 4th line guy..

We just have way too much depth at RW.. It makes the most sense to move him now.

From last blog-

What are you thinking next year?

Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Moore-Kadri-Kapanen
Mikheyev-Gauthier-Bracco.

Edit: Marleau on LTIR with jock itch

- PatC80

That lineup makes sense to me.

Although, doubtful they do that to Marleau. And Babcock might switch Mikheyev and Moore around.

I guess it also depends on if all those guys are back next season.

And add... wonder if Dubas will play hard ball just a tad. I hate that it's Mitch but can't let the agents run the show either.

Yeah, I don't see them doing that to Marleau either, but they do need to find a way to move that cap hit..

Assuming no other changes, I think it's a pretty strong lineup

How exactly is Marleau's contract status "uncertain?"

We only wish it was uncertain.

He's going to be at training camp with new skates and a new one-piece stick, slow as hell, sucking up cap space like Danny Markov sucked up vodka.

No mention of the brewing controversy of Mikheyev wearing #66?

Korshkov, Marchment and Engvall might be in that mix, and I still think there's a chance that Brooks supplants Gauthier to add speed to the 4th line, but Brooks is considerably smaller than Gauthier.

Babcock has suggested that he wants some more size - Engvall and Marchment would provide that. Mikeyev is 6'2, and Korshkov is 6'4.

Brooks is like, 5'10. If we can find a depth C, via free agency, maybe they replace Gauthier..

If Babcock wants more size up front, Dubas can't only give him Adam Brooks.

Why would it be a controversy, though? Lemieux didn't play for the Leafs and it's not retired league wide like #99 is.

There should be no problem with him wearing the number.

Plus, Lamoriello is no longer here and we don't have Josh Ho-Sang

Every time La Chèvre was taken out of the lineup last season, the 4th line struggled hard. I can't see them replacing him right now.

You do know that Lamoriello is no longer the GM here, right?

Only Lou had an issue with player numbers and facial hair, and team curfews, and signing bonuses, and player personnel.
