Delmore's hat trick was one of the single greatest games for a Flyers d-man ever.

Bill,

Has any other Flyers rookie had a hat trick in a playoff game?

i don't care about the coaching selections i care more about the results

as i've said before we have lots of NHL experience behind the bench so the players have no excuse now. either win or get out

I know you are just being facetious but Laliberte was a d+3 overager in the Q when he had his 50-goal season. He turned 21 late that season. Ratcliffe was d+2 this season and still WJC eligible.

That Delmore hat trick was the game after Primeau's 5OT winner.

After that 5 OT game, a Pittsburgh reporter asked Pen's coach Herb Brooks, "Coach, how do you sleep after losing a game like that?" to which he replied "I slept like a baby. I woke up every hour and cried".

Yeah the Pens lost game 3 and 4 at home in overtime. The second of which was 5 overtimes. Pretty hard to recover from that.

Ottawa 67's have only lost once in these playoffs not twice.

Was hoping they would sweep the final and go 16-0. Think it has only ever been done once before, but maybe not.

Flyers should now somehow find a way to hire Mike Keenan. It would be a trifecta of ball busters on the coaching staff.

They honestly need to make T-Shirts for the coaching staff and G and title it "Team of Rivals" because that is what Fletcher has assembled. Lots of different strong opinions and loads of experience with a huge task/goal in front of them.

I'm fine with the hiring's. Some of the players really have to show more commitment to the team on a more consistent basis or they shouldn't be here. This collection of coaches assure a buy in by a player or a buyout. I'm still hoping for some substantial player moves....but these changes are a nice start.

I'm on the fence for this kid still.....has the tools, but looks like a giraffe on skates. He already has a NHL release.

Really no excuses now for the players.

Any slow starts to games or season is even more of a confirmation that they arent the right mix.

Im good with this coaching staff since Q was never in the equation for all but one team.

I don't understand some of the naysayers on this. AV had input on who he wanted to hire. Why would he bring someone in that would try and overrule him or work to get his job? He has a relationship with Therrien and they think they can work together. You don't hire a staff because you think one of them can take over if you fire the HC.

I like the approach. We will need to see how it all works out.

Now we can focus on those trades, the draft and FA's...!!!

Not to dispute that Yeo and Therrien have reputations as ballbusters. Not sure if that will change but I don't see them coming in to audition for the HC job in case of firing.

Once again great article Bill. I am curious to see how the players respond going from a "players coach" to a coach who will hold them accountable in no uncertain terms. This is going to be a serious adjustment for some players I beleive have gotten a little to comfortable. Also I am looking for to watching Ratcliffe play at Lehigh next year & hopefully the Flyers in 2 years. Love his size & hands. Hopefully he will make the transition.
