Meh/ more of the same

I have no faith in Holland being any different than pc. Cut from the same cloth. But I’ll reserve judgement and hope for the best anyway

And while there’s nothing I can do to change bob Nicholson being in charge of the decision that will be directly tied to 97 being a career Oiler or not, every time he speaks it just reinforces my hope that he is in no way involved with any actual hockey personnel decisions

At least he hasn't made a career of trading away skilled assets for half-value.

While I've tried to relay the positives I can think of the last few days, I want it on record that I believe that this is just more of the same old Oilers. The whole "but this time it's different" act does nothing for me and can't be trusted without action and results that back up the talk.

Nichol(frank)er can try all he wants to spin this, but it appears to me- and many others- as though another "can't miss" candidate became available and he just scrapped the results of the interview process in favour of the name-brand.

No matter who this team employed as a GM there is always the risk of that person failing....regardless of it was Verbeek or Hunter or whoever and one thing I picked up during that press conference was the over used expression “full autonomy” which actually suggests to me that no one else might have been given that besides Holland.....I’m going to see how this summer goes before I hit the panic button

Holland cut his teeth in the junior leagues, going from small town to small town scouting young players. He knows the value of character and he knows the value of the draft. I actually really like this pickup.

I'm also secretly hoping that the Leafs get rid of Babcock and we can pick him up too, but I have faith that Holland will sign a great coach.

I'm feeling very positive about this.

Holland has a real big mess to fix ( Lucic, Russell,Sekera, Nurse with a new contract coming up that will probably be too rich for the oilers ) ...Hopefully KH has a few favors he can cash in on.
If he can deal with 2 or 3 of those issues it just might be enough to get us over the hump..

"Compared to Datsyuk as far as style of play goes" was my comment in context. Both are skilled centres who are able to produce points while being incredibly responsible defensively. Datsyuk is by far the better player but style wise yeah they match up

Well... he could be involved in a fatal "accident." I'm not saying trying to say anything, but ...

But what would this be reflective of then?

Would it be purely on how things need to change behind the scenes. Most likely.

or

Just bad selection? Kind of likely.

I think some people shoukd step back rrom the edge and give holland time and space to make his changes. He wont trade connor or leon so really anyone else is fair game unless we just want to watch two 100 plus point players every year get more frustrated. Team needs change and trades need to be made. With his resume and credentials I dont see a better man tor the job esp with autonomy.
Get well soon Mr. Katz
