I think hornqvist could be traded to a team who strikes out in free agency and has money to spend, but it’d be for pretty much nothing. Gudbransson wasn’t terrible with the pens so maybe he could be moved, but I would have to think salary would have to be retained. I don’t think there’s any team that wants Jack Johnson for his cap hit and term |

I would be totally fine with hand passes in the other two zones. - Ryan_Wilson
Better idea, just let players pick up the puck and carry it around the ice. I have some other ideas to increase scoring chances:
- Get rid of those pesky "lines" all over the ice that stop teams from entering the zone before the puck.
- Eliminate the ability to skate backwards without the puck as the whole "playing defense" bit negates scoring chances.
- Remove goaltenders from gameplay and have the game played at 3v3. This should lead to an increased xgf for everyone but Zac Rinaldo.
- Let Ryan Wilson and James Tanner become GMs and serve on the BoG because they have all of the answers. |

I am definitely cheering for the Canes at this point, although if the Avalanche win that would be ok too.
If the Pens trade Hornqvist they need to find someone else who is willing to play in front of the net a lot. No one on the current roster seems willing to do it often. |

you can't think of another reason why hand passes aren't allowed? Really? |

I literally said the exact same thing about Hornqvist last week and was told he had zero or negative value, so there’s that
Teams that would take JJ and a pick and send us back someone they didn’t want or simply just buy him out could possibly include: Detroit, Montreal, Ottawa, Columbus (if they strike out in FA bet your buns they’ll need assets), NJD, and LA if they feel they need to enter a full rebuild. I’ll say it again though, I don’t think this happens until next offseason |

This is from DK's site...
Patric Hornqvist has a full no-trade clause through the 2020-21 season. For the final two years of his contract in 2021-22 and 2022-23, that becomes a modified no-trade clause. If asked during those seasons, he is allowed to submit a list of eight teams he would not accept a trade to. Because this is a no-trade clause without the additional no-movement clause, the Penguins are not obligated to protect Hornqvist in an expansion draft.
JMO.... Neither Guddy and Hornie are going anywhere. JJ will definitely be back. Rutherford is a believer in these players. He was extremely defiant when talking about JJ.

I was pretty certain Rutherford was trying to "rattle his cage" too. Every report in Pittsburgh says they will legitimately consider a trade.

Doesn’t “being moved out for pretty much nothing” mean that he has no value? |

Depends on how much you value $5.3MM on your books. I also don’t subscribe to the notion of him being worthless nor did I subscribe to the idea in the past that he was worth this big extension. Kane was my target. I wouldn’t mind seeing him move on but I’ve got the Avs |

Weird ass site.... was just taking a look at our contracts and did not see Maatta. Was like "how the (frank) did i miss him being moved"... they just arbitrarily put him with the buyout/LTIR players. |

I guess I never looked if he’s at the Worlds, that could potentially boost his trade value |

I don’t profess to be a hockey rules expert or hockey purist, but could it be that the reason why hand-passing the puck is generally not allowed is because it could lead to a travesty of the game? A number of hockey’s rules put a premium on being able to skate, stickhandle, and pass (with one’s stick) well... icing, offside, the erstwhile 2-line offside, for example.
If hand passes were allowed everywhere, then I think the game would evolve to look a lot different, making the skills I mentioned above cheaper. Another thing is, if hand-passes are made legal, do we then say that a player may direct, or even throw, the puck into the net with his glove? I know it sounds crazy, but I would fear a slippery slope with this.
My understanding is that the only reason why hand-passes were made legal in the defensive zone is so a team under duress because of the other team’s forechecking couldn’t get a stoppage of play by intentionally hand-passing. |

None of the trades you’ve been proposing for the last three weeks make us better. Youre devolving into Palmer territory but without the obvious learning disability for an excuse. |
