What are the conditions on the Karlsson trade for getting additional first round pick? |

Sharks make finals in 2019 and they re-sign him. |
|
|

those are both
I think we get one from them if they JUST make the finals.
Even if they don't re-sign him. |

Columbus' goal tending is a huge part of the discussion on if Duchene stays. They have a solid foundation up front, but that wont account for much if they need to replace one of the best goalies in the game with something mediocre.
TBH Duchene's comments sounded pretty typical to me. Not the statements a guy who we know or suspect is leaving makes, but just standard canned statements for a guy who's really unsure. |

I ALWAYS get these mixed up. But I think it's if he re-signs they get the 2nd, which then gets upgraded to a 2021 first if they make the finals.
FROM CAP FRIENLY:
**Conditions: Sens receive Sharks 2021 2nd round pick if Karlsson is re-signed. The selection upgrades to a 2021 1st if Sharks reach the Stanley Cup final in 2019. |

That's it.
Thanks for clarifying.
And for the record this article probably didn't need to be written.
But it was well written.
We all know.
We all just shake our heads when we hear more buffoonery at the top. |

What happens if the Sharks make the Cup final but Karlsson does not re-sign with them in the off-season? Granted, if the Sharks make it to the finals, I imagine it would difficult for Karlsson to walk away, win or lose. |

Shaw is a good assistant coach. Not sure about a head coach. He left St Louis after Yeo was named Hitchcocks replacement a full season before he was set to retire. (Most idiotic move to have the successor on the bench at the same time). |

Melnyk has missed paying some trade accounts as they become due. Has he missed payroll? So far, I have not heard any reports that staff has not been paid.
Internal reorganizations are merely window dressing on a house that is obviously falling apart. It is nothing more than musical chairs. Melnyk appoints someone to be responsible for executive direction even though the guy has no hockey or sports management experience. Melnyk will continue to make all the financial decisions.
This business model cannot be sustained. I know people get discouraged by the negative consequences from Melnyk's ownership. But, and, this is important, in the current situation all bad news about team management is, in fact, good news.

Such an absolute joke.
Nobody credible wants to work for the broke, greasy, owner. Plus, why hire somebody now. If he waits a few months Mr. Shallow Pockets can save some money.
Meanwhile, on the business side. People continue to leave after short experiences of what it is like to work for the whack job. So he just brings in more of his old cronies.
The Senators are doomed until there is new ownership. |

It is critically important that the team have high quality hockey operations to identify, draft, develop and manage the core talent needed to compete in the future.
Incompetent management may lead to very high draft picks which we need but it is not a recipe for long term success. Poor to mediocre goaltending, mediocre defence and a lack of firepower will still produce a top 6 pick in the draft, even with very good coaching - so we're covered for the next 2 years. |

Garth Snow would be perfect for POHO. He's very experienced working with a "difficult" owner, and he would probably take the job. |

They get nothing is my understanding.
I think a Sharks loss in the finals would be the best case scenario.
But I have a feeling he wont re-sign, but I'm not really sure waht I"m basing that off. |

Thanks.
I found this BTW, "Ottawa receives San Jose's first-round choice in either 2019 or 2020 (not lottery protected); if the Sharks miss the playoffs this season it will be a 2019 selection, otherwise it will be in 2020.
The 2019 second-round pick Ottawa receives from San Jose will be the higher of the two picks the Sharks own, the Florida Panthers' and theirs.
Should San Jose sign Karlsson to a contract, Ottawa will receive the Sharks' second-round selection in 2021, which would upgrade to a first-round selection (not lottery protected) if San Jose reaches the Stanley Cup Final this season." |

He would still have to sign if san Jose makes the finals... To get the additional 1st round pick... |
