Umm, both assistants are coaching the PK? Think ya got a typo Bill, lol.
I like the idea of the former Dman coaching the forwards and the former winger coaching the D. Should provide an interesting perspective on both. Plus with AVs rep as a coach who likes consensus, all will probably be involved in every facet of the team.
The best news though is Lappy no longer runs the PK. Hallelujah! |

considering the year Provy just had I can see the best option being a bridge deal...But that's easy for me to say...if someone offers me 40 million for 6 years, it may be hard to turn down...lol
Having a deal in place for the long term and not weighing on his mind might be what's best for the player and his performance. Its hard to say after what was a sub par year for him. When I say sub par...that's by Provy's own standards....he can be a lot better.
I agree with what some claim that he did get better in the 2nd half of the season, but I still don't think his game reached the 2017-18 level. Interesting negotiation for sure. |

Bill, In your opinion what players are likely to thrive in AV's system and which might have a more difficult time adjusting. |

A holdout would be potentially dangerous for Prov, considering all the young dmen behind him who would relish taking his minutes and running with them. |

That didn't hurt Nylander with the Leafs already being stacked offensively. You don't want to lose the asset or have to sell him for pennies on the dollar so ultimately you're going to pay the kid. |

this probably would have been more likely had Provy had a super strong year....his demands probably would have been on a different level. |

With Yeo working with the defensemen, does that ease some of the worries of Therrien's coaching style clashing with and Ghost/Sanheim's game? |

From Nylander's perspective, TO's depth dragged the whole thing out. They didn't need to sign him until the absolute last minute. Meanwhile, Marner, Hyman, Johansson and Kapanen picked up his shifts and they all saw their expanded roles continue, even after Nylander returned. Marner especially... he and Nylander used to be talked about in the same breath, but Marner is on a whole other level now.
I'm not quite sure the Flyers top-end depth on D comes close to TO's at F, but I hope Prov's agent doesn't go nuclear, or it could potentially drag out for both sides. He's definitely getting signed by the Flyers, just a matter of when. |

I remember that Clarke goal like it happened yesterday.
I jumped up when he scored and hit the ceiling with both hands. then my Dad and I hugged each other. My Dad wasn't much of a hugger back then. My favorite memory from any game. |

@ does therrien not coaching d effect the worry about ghost sanheim. In ghost regard, no. They will still work together and he will spend a lot of time with him on the pp.
I think sanheim is fine. |

Yeo seems better suited to handle young dmen. Direct, but fair.
Flyers F's did a lot of cheating up the ice, cherry-picking, etc. I'm thinking Therrien's gonna embarrass people when they do it. TK's a guy I'd watch. He's already kinda flippant and cocky, and he flies the zone more than anybody. Could either lock horns w/ MT, or end up inexplicably thriving (a la Pacioretty). |

I think having forwards ready for an outlet will be integral to AV's system though. If I remember correctly he relies on team speed to keep the other teams "honest". It does become a problem when you play teams that can skate as fast but have more pure scorers a la Tampa and Pittsburgh. |

The stretch pass is something that needs to be in the arsenal to keep their d backed off and honest. But I would agree the flyers did too much of it and way to many pop flies down the ice. Therrien is coming hope the group is ready! |

Looking at it the other way, a Provorov holdout would absolutely, not potentially, be devastating to the Flyers. I'm very excited about Sanheim & Myers too, but IMO starting next season without Provy in the lineup would hurt the Flyers a lot more than it would affect Provy.
Ultimately I don't think it really matters. I think a deal will get worked out |
