If we were gonna lose, there is no way to do it id be prouder of. This game exemplified the resilient spirit that got the Avs on this amazing run. From 7% chance of playoffs 3 months ago. Were offsides review not so broken in the NHL, we woulda been treated to at least overtime last night. Can't decide which is worse, how against the spirit of the offsides rule a player behind the play being called is, or the fact Landeskog did actually have his skate on blueline paint.

Hockey gods determined this is as far as the Cinderalla Avs can go this year. But boy howdy is it just the beginning and these playoffs were a fun preview of whats to come out of Colorado. Most fun time being an Avs fan in 15 years. NOTHING but pride in this team for coming back against the odds time and time again.

The only question going forward is how many Cups will this Avs team win? True leadership and class by Landeskog post-game. Like the call or not, he's right, he should've gotten off of the ice any way he could've, as fast as possible. Hockey.
But if they can hold this group together and stay healthy, wow...

As a Sharks fan, appreciated the ownership of the loss by the Avs. Very much in contrast to Vegas, who cried like a bunch of babies and blamed the refs instead of the fact that they blew a 3-1 series and 3-0 Game 7 lead. Avs are gonna be a very difficult team to play in the coming years.

Top 4D and top 3F all 27 and younger. This will be a contender for the next decade. Maybe add a piece or two to the middle 6, but this team will be right back in the mix for the WCF again next year.

The operative word is IF....You probably have a 2 year window where you can keep the core of the team intact before cap issues might constrain you. You'll save money by replacing Varlamov next year but what results will the backup provide? You'll have to pay Rantanen and Girard and then in 3 years Makar (what do you do with Barrie and how will you replace Cole). Wilson gets a raise in a year as does Soderberg. And there are always the hockey gods who inflict injuries on your team if they don't like you..look at Vancouver this year...

Avs played well this post season and 2nd half. The beat of Calgary inspires confidence and increases your ability to use your speed and skills. You can be proud of your teams effort this year

@hockeygm lol wat

I'm sure glad we "only have 2 more years" but as the cap continues going up, other teams have been able to do it with Sid and Geno and Phil, or Chicago with winning 3x in 6 years.. or hell.. name any other team lmfao.

But yeah.. we'll just break the core up in a couple years.. sounds about right

Hope this goes like that..

I suspect we use Varly's money to go after Panarin.. imagine adding him.. holy hell. We still have a bit of time before we will be up against it.. and in a couple years when that happens, we'll have a better idea where all these kids stand.

Can't break the bank for Panarin when we have people that will need signing.

The guys on the BSN podcast estimate that after signing Rantanen, Zadorov, Compher and Kerfoot the Avs will have $18 miilion to spend. They'll be just fine. 9.84 million will be freed just between Varly and Wilson. Nemeth is another 2.5. Orpik's buyout goes from 2.5 to 1.5. Brassard is another 3 million and Bourque is another million. Even if they were to re-sign Wilson it will be for far less than the 4 million he makes now. And they have the third highest cap space at the moment with all those guys.

They're rolling in cap space and by many accounts the Kroenke's have given Sakic the green light to go use it.

Don't forget Arizona will be there the following year. Tanner says they're going to win it all!

A great season by the Avalanche!
I love the way they play and they are only going to get better.
I think the offside call was correct per the rule book but it was cheesy and had nothing to do with the goal going in. Tough break.
Hope to see you in the final next June.

Mack at 6.3 per is just so unfair to every other team. We have picks #4 and 16, tons of cap space, this team is about to be set up big time for the next 5 years minimum. With all the first round picks and young prospects, dont be surprised if they take a run at Marner
