I have a goaltender that is not a free agent but really needs a change of venue and that is Jake Allen. He could be a good if not great goaltender wearing a different sweater than the Blues sweater and could be had for very little if anything. |

What I'm hearing is "Lucic for Allen; the deal is one for one." |

I still dont get this koskinnen has an albatross contract. I see him as the starter and quite a few people will be eating their words after he does well next year. |

I would definitely give Jake Allen a try...I like this idea.
Trading Koskinen (although who would want him at that price?) and having a tandem of Allen and one of those backups from the above list could be interesting.
I can't stand the Koskinen signing by Chiarelli in his last moment. It's like when you tell a chick you're not into her and she knows she's leaving, and she breaks your favourite twig on the way out the door. f--k you Chiarelli!

I'm not quite as high on Elliott as most Flyers fans seem to be, but I think he'd be about as good fit for this type of 1-B role as anyone else on that list who will realistically be available/not have better options.
Also, he played 2 games for the Phantoms on a post-injury conditioning stint, not sure that quite qualifies as spending time in the AHL. |

Who do you think we would have to give up for her? I agree that she is a great goaltender. I think a Lucic, one for one, might get it done, but I'm not sure if the Buffalo Beauts would go for it.

In all seriousness Tippett is going to want a Smith/Bryzgalov tandem. |

Elliot spent time in the AHL this season and another goalie I don't want to count on to rebound. Philly are goalie killers. - freelancer
Wow, this is a fun spin.
Also, how'd that Bobrovsky guy from "goalie killer" Philly turn out? |

Varlamov. He'll either give you a top-5 pick or steal the show. If you can get him at 3, that would be a steal. |

Great literally the moment he left Philly. This is a good point, Elliot could end up being good as soon as he gets out of the Philly Triangle. |

Koskenin was brilliant at times then not so much during other times.....we do need an experienced goalie to back him up in case he does struggle again....the Oilers could also do their goalies a favour and fire Schwartz and get someone in that can actually help.....that could go a long ways

But I agree.
I'd actually be interested in getting Varly if he is available. |

I'd have to pass. Jarry hasn't done much to show he has starter potential since his sophomore AHL season and he's 3 years older than Jesse. |

I think that's a pretty clear win for us even if Kreider doesn't resign. Getting a middle-6 winger for a 12 spot bump is still solid value, so adding a year of a quality top-6 winger does us plenty of good, too. He and Nuge could form the basis for a strong 2nd line. Add a couple of my usual trades and:
Draisaitl- McDavid- Kassian*
Kreider- Nuge- Zucker
Vesey- JEE- Brown
Gambo- Khaira- ____
* denotes temporary to see if they still have chemistry
Marody, Russell, Currie and a UFA or PTO fighting for that last spot. That's a damn solid looking forward group. |
