Guelph is one hell of a story for sure. As far as IiHf goes. What good does it do for anyone? Good for sponsors I guess |

It's a big deal for the players that go, and the tourney is huge in Europe. |

Do you foresee Ratcliffe as a penalty killer?
I've mentioned before a vision of Ratcliffe, Morin and Myers/Sanheim paired with a really fast skater as a unit. With that size and reach, if they keep their sticks active and their feet moving it should take away time and space while shutting down the passing lanes. Size-wise it would practically be five on five. |

Is there any shot of Pavelski leaving SJ? How bad of a cap crunch are they in? I like him for a short term goal scoring 2C option. |

Pavelski probably more likely to retire than leave. |

They can't afford him, Karlson, Nyquist, and Thornton. Also talk of them getting Marleau back from Toronto.
Joe P is only 34. I don't see him retiring yet. I'm guessing they lose one of Karlsson or Pavelski. |

I imagine they will on from Thornton due to his age at this point. Certainly if they feel it's going to prohibit them from re-upping another guy long term. |

He is too young to earn that kind of money. What has he achieved? He certainly hasn’t put the years in.
How about the youths of today start putting their head down and grabbing their lunch pail on the way to work instead of wanting everything handed to them immediately? When I was a youngin I respected my elders and pulled myself up by my bootstraps. I sure as heck didn’t whine about a couple dollars.
Now get off my lawn! |

If the flyers have any interest in any leafs players I hope they are aggressive and go after them; don’t wait. Make a legit offer instead of trying to lowball them |

I assume you're talking about offer sheets. I love Marner but I don't think he's worth giving up 4 1st's for. |

Not just offesheets. trades as I think leafs have to move some players.
As far as an offer sheet I believe u will have to severely overpay to get him to sign one. Like north of 12 million. Just my opinion |

I don’t either. And I can’t believe he didn’t sign that deal. TOR ought to bridge him and make him prove he can be productive for years to come. |

But I ain't going crazy with the deals. Toronto is definitely in a sellers position. No reason to help them out of cap hell.

It would be 4 1st round picks no matter what. Remember offer sheets are not done by cap hit, example...
Flyers offer the SAME as Toronto with 1 less year (remember this is just an example), 9 million per for 7 years which is 63 million total. Offer sheet amount is done by dividing total money (62) by 5 or by the number of years if it is less than 5.
So 9x7 yrs = 62 million / 5 = 12.6....4 1st rounders.
Of course the Flyers would have to offer much much more for Marner to accept and Toronto to not match the offer. |

I get what you are saying however I am taking the approach that I want to improve my team first and foremost. I don’t look at it as helping the out. My guess is the leafs want to deal their players to west conf ideally. That’s why I don’t lowball them if the flyers have interest in their players. |

I just can't see giving up four 1sts for him right now when our team is no lock to be in the playoffs.
I could definitely see us doing something with them where we get Marner and Marleau and we send them Ghost and 11th overall. They still get good value considering they're up against a wall and get some much needed cap room.
We obviously get Marner for the long term and either hold onto Marleau or move him for a pick at the deadline. |
