i agree on the Bennett assessment and it makes no sense to give up our most gritty forward when more skilled grit is something we need in spades.
Other than Chucky and Gio im not sure we have any untouchables though. |

I think Bennett has another level, not going to see it playing on the 3rd line with perennial anchors every year. I think Frolic is as good as gone, his agent pretty well laid the groundwork. They want Frolic having a reduced role & its inevitable Frolic will have reduced minutes next year, bad for him being in a contract year. Money is on Brodie being traded as well. Unfortunately, coaches had to rely on the 3M line when things were dragging. There is no arguing their possession metrics but it has kept Bennett back. Tkachuk & Bennett should be a pairing going forward, whether Bennett plays centre or RW doesnt matter. Depending on how contracts go down, we could see Monahan centring Bennett & Tkachuk, Lindholm centring Gaudreau & Neal(if Neal gets his crap together) out of necessity. I would love to see Tre pull off some magic & pry Karlsson out of Vegas & move Neal to Ottawa & Brodie to Montreal for Lindgren & a pick or two. Then Karlsson could centre the Gaudreau & Lindholm top line & move Monahan with Bennett & Tkachuk. That would be my dream summer scenario. |

Tkachuk - Lindholm - Bennett could be fun to watch.
I don't think that Bennett is going to be much more than he is, though. I'm fine with him being that kind of player and any additional scoring he provides is just a bonus. |

Would Johnny and his nice contract entice the Rangers to part with #2 overall?
Would Johnny straight up for Kakko be enough, not enough or too much? |

You don’t give up a perennial 100pt player who’s still only 25 with lots of term on a value contract for just 1 pick, even if it is for #2 OA. At the very least the Rangers would have to add a player. I’m thinking Ziby and #2 OA for Johnny and #26. I doubt the Rangers would but anything less and I don’t think BT even listens. We’re in win now mode and you don’t do that with unproven kids in lineup to replace some talented experienced players. |

Agreed. Not saying I want this to happen but I'd much prefer trading Monahan over Johnny. |

Monaham can score (games 1 through 55), but what are his intangibles? At 6'3" where's the grit, where are the hits, where is the back checking, where is the leadership assigned to the "A" he wears on his jersey? If he was a super hero, his power would be the ability to disappear.... |

IDK, if they could create another line that was dangerous that would take a lot of the stress of JG.
What would it take to get Jeff carter out of LA? A line of him, Bennett, and Tkachuk would be tough to play against, maybe look into Toffoli as well.
LA might be looking to blow it up. |
