I used to go now and then cuz my kid liked it and they'd have those huge beer on 1/2 price, that's all.

I can see why kids would like it. Seems like the food is geared to kids.

And yeah cheap beer I've had many team pitchers there after games.

Whew, you said corporate suite and not got free food.

I have friends who love the place but for the life of me I don't get why people like BP.

I don't do chain restaurants, White Spot being the lone exception. Small independent places for us.
I know families dig it because it has a 100 page menu and a 30 page kids menu. How do you keep all of that food fresh?

They started poopting on him after the Niedermayer OT goal if I remember correctly. I get he didn't win it all, but the team still only scored 8 goals in 7 games.

I'm not a big chain guy but i'll eat at them occasionally, especially when travelling. We don't hit restaurants at all very often to be honest. Now that the youngest is getting older that might change, but it always annoys me to spend $250 on a meal that costs 1/3 of that at home.

With the choice I get close by, there's no need. Way too many options that appeal much more.

Speaking of which, a small Vietnamese restaurant opened about a month ago close by. I only mention that because I was shocked. Opening during the pandemic. That's an optimistic person!

Edit: I don't know why everything is bolded. I feel shame.

Precisely! So many times after dinner with some wine, I ask "do you know how much that would have cost us at a restaurant?"

Ribs, fresh corn & new potatoes with a Pinot Noir. At home $40, at a restaurant $120 + tip (being a former server I start at 20% for baseline service). That's $80 I have for weed.

I used to think like that when I tipped. I also busted my ass as a server and bartender. Nowadays I find too many people expect a good tip regardless of service, so I simply tip accordingly.

You can't ignore us or act rudely and expect me to give you money for doing your job. Standard service, 15%. Good service 20, excellent gets more. Substandard, 10, lousy 5 and if you're an bumhole you get nothing. It's really up to the server and I haven't had to go below 10 very often.

We've been fortunate to have exceptional service most times. There has been the odd time when less than 15% has been left.
There's breakfast place in Courtenay that we went to frequently that we longer go to after one horrendous outing. She did not get a tip. That was my second time, the first was a group of us, all servers, at Brother's restaurant in Gastown in the late '80's. At that one we actually gave the tip to the host because he was the only gracious & polite one who worked there. Our server and the manager were beyond hopeless and then got hostile.

I remember paying for a bill then leaving a penny for the bumhole that served us. You could see the rage in his eyes.

It's been awhile since i've left less than 15%. What's acceptable when you do takeout?

Also, I fully expect a reservoir dogs clip from RC any minute.

So did I, well mini could be a bit pretentious, but I don't understand why people need to be so hard core.

But I understand why people step back, I certainty don't post much anymore, there is waayyy to much negativity in life, no need to rise to the occasion and welcome more.

It's easy to get caught up in the bs. Things did get out of hand recently, everything happens for a reason. Out of respect for Carol & Mak I'll be more careful with my posts in the future as well.

The horse shit that Booner dispenses is endless.

He dropped that self righteous speech and rage quit looking for sympathy. I guarantee he’ll crawl back looking for people to shower him with adulation “so happy you’re back bud” and poop like that.
