Walmart pulling their guns and ammo from displays across that magnificent country. Citing "isolated civil unrest" as a caution.

I might have to make a playlist of burning and fire songs for next week.

Yeah, read about that. Unbelievable. All empires crumble at some point. Maybe we are watching the start of the American decline. Or maybe it’s the last gasps of an old American culture before it’s replaced with some pseudo-socialist ideal? Either way there are definitely two distinct sides that do not agree on the direction of their country.

Solid reply RC, and my thoughts exactly.

I agree. It was a solid reply. Going to have to call him “Professor” soon.

When Trump wins again I hope we can put the American politics aside for the next four years

Lol. I’m so tired of hearing about that guy. It’s in your face all the time. Even the foreign news agencies cover that clown way too much. For the love of god, enough is enough.

I'm going to jump in and answer even though it wasn't directed at me.

With respect to the other provinces, although their circumstances may be slightly different, no it was not okay for them to hold elections. Encouraging people to congregate in enclosed spaces (even trying to socially distance) is not good modeling behaviour. What I mean is, "hey, if it's safe to have elections, I guess it's safe enoug to..." So, my point is, no, it wasn't a good idea. It was politically expedient choice which leads to your next point.

Sure, it was good politics if you look at it in the very short term which is not necessarily bad if you're trying to hold on to your job.

However, if you look at the situation in hand, they could have had another year plus a majority. Anyone who has half an eye on BC politics can see that the Liberals are in disarray and that they have no/weak leadership. This means that the NDP have a weak opposition.

This also means that they would never be beholden to the Green. While the Greens support is necessary to pass legislation, what option do/did the Greens have but to support the NDP? If they threatened a confidence motion or somesuch, the NDP could say, sure go ahead, we'll get a majority so we're fine with you taking the blame for the election.

Basically my point is that the NDP played craven politics and it wasn't really to their maximum benefit. I contend that they could have maintained their popularity (good not great but better than the Liberals) through a prolonged pandemic as long as they continued to put the doctors outfront more than the pols.

In an extended pandemic they would be able to pass the legislation they wish because the Liberals are a feeble opposition and the Greens have no real threat power (as an election would help the NDP.)

So, they would have had an extra year and then gotten a majority. Adding 1 year of guaranteed governing. By doing it one year early, they give the Liberals 4 years to get a new leader and get their house in order.

Long story short: the NDP helped the Liberals by forcing them to re-build 1 year early.

Moral of the story: don't play only for the season in front of you even though that helps you out in the standings and even with the fans.

Nice response
I wasn't happy about the election call either, but the results really made the thousands of Albertans working here, realize that us on the West Coast are not interested in their bullpoop separation talks....unless of course we are talking Cascadia.😁

Strange conversation with my daughter last night. She's 11....12 next month On the ride home from her Halloween party ( don't judge, 8 kids she goes to school with and no local transmission) she tells me the host in transgender. It's awkward that the mom sometimes calls Oliver- Grace.

She then told me another classmate couldn't attend the party because he came out as gay ( 12 years old ) and his parents didn't approve.

Sorry guys, pretty weird and heavy poop as a dad for a Halloween party. It's great to have an opinion on things, entirely different to share it with a child 2 generations your junior.

Anyways, I told her that I would never be disappointed that she was transgender or gay. I'd be far more disappointed if she labelled herself as such at 12 years of age. "Live life a little, figure out who you are for yourself before announcing yourself to the world" is what I suggested.

Just thought I'd share, landmark dad moment.

Geez. That’s heavy. I miss the good old days when we just had to worry about razor blades in our Halloween candy apples.

Golfing, that's pretty heavy. You handled it really well. I feel sorry for the boy whose parents don't approve.

Ok, let’s hear your predictions. Trump or Biden? How does the Senate and House go?

I’m going with Trump and both House and Senate going Democrat. That would essentially grind the American government to a halt. It would be glorious.

biden wins but both will declare victory tonight. republicans will file lawsuits ASAP but those will ultimately fail even with a conservative court.

the house is a lock for the democrats and they'll increase their majority.

the senate flips to the dems.

me on a limb: NC, Georgia, AZ go for biden.

I’m going with Trump, as I don’t think many Republicans voted or planned to vote until today, which is why you saw a lot of Democratic votes in early voting. It’s going to be close but I think ultimately middle Americans, Republicans, outnumber the Democratic population.

Basically the same thing you saw in 2016.

The Republicans will be out in force today.

However, many of them will vote Democrat.

Biden will win over 350 of the electoral college.

What about house and senate? If the senate goes Dem, trump is essentially a lame duck president.

So a landslide victory for Biden? Oh boy, that would be something. Can you imagine the finger pointing by Republicans if they are whipped out?

The only question is the Senate.

The house is already dem majority and it's a virtual certain that the majority increases after tonight.

Biden winning isn't a lock but he's a clear favourite. The whole "fraudulent results" argument that Trump is making is an acknowledgement that he'll probably lose. He loses the vote (that's a certainty) and he'll lose the college (good bet but not a certainty.)

Btw, I see the senate flip back in 2022.

It'll be akin to a civil war within the party. The trump wing vs the other side.

This sets up trump perfectly to start his own media network/empire.

Watch Texas. It won't flip but if it's close, that spells disaster for the Rs. A close Texas with a fractured party flips the state certainly in 2024. And without Texas, the Rs are doomed.

A trump loss tonight will bring hilarity for the next 2 and a half months.

A trump with the knowledge that he's about to lose his power? Executive Action and pardon power left for less than 3 months?

What could go wrong? Seriously, that's gonna be fun to watch.

Yes. I think he will but it looks like Congress (house and senate) will go to the Dems. In reality, that’s more important.
