I agree they should trade it. What do you think they get in return? Set the price Jimmy |

I thought 23 was prime time.
They should be trying to get Johnson - Marleau from the Leafs for that 1st rounder. Then Dubas could trade it down for 7 7th rounders or something strategic like that. |

If 28 is middle of prime age, what is the entire range of prime? Basically a whole NHL career? Age 22-34 is now prime age with 28 being in the middle. |

A player's peak season tends to come around age 23, and there is a lot of evidence to suggest that players start to hit their true prime a lot earlier than expected, but for the NHL 28 is pretty much in your prime. Although by 28 you've probably already had your best season and are probably not as good as you were in your peak.
That's a good idea for Johnson from the Coyotes perspective, but it's dumb for the Leafs. |

Arizona. Goligoski is a surprisingly useful player. |

Sorry, but I don't think the Coyotes are close enough to contention to be trading away 1st round picks. They might instead try trading some of those guys who are on the wrong side of 30.
Most importantly they need a new front office. |

What's the value of the 14th overall pick? A roster player on a fair value contract that is an average second liner? That won't be pushing the Yotes over the top. Keep the pick and hope you can develop a player out of your magic beans. |

I just don’t see the depth to be throwing a 14 th overall pick for a player that would likely be a second liner at best . Rather see them grab a free agent if they can . Eberle , Ferland , our possibly Nyquist . All of which are the caliber of player you might get for the first . |

Az can't sign a big ticket FA unless they ship someone out since management won't go over their self imposed cap. They have 16 players signed for $73 mil and even if they can trade Hossa's contract thats's only a $5.2 mil saving. |

They would have to give up another pick to lose that contract. If they have the room , then the best bet is to sign an FA if they can . If not , they really have no choice but to take the pick and hope they can play sooner then later .

Rangers will want to trade up to 14 from the 20th overall pick, but that's probably not a trade you had in mind |

It's almost always smart to trade down. If I was a GM, and had the 14th pick, I'd definitely be interested in moving from 14 to 20. You add assets and you get almost the same chance of drafting a good player. |
