With a shot like his, you don't use him in a defensive role imo. Gotta get him some top-end playmakers to maximize his strengths. Playing him with a Sobotka-type guy will not lead to the best results possible. He needs to be in the offensive zone with creative puck distributors

Agree with you on the defensive side. They have work to do there. If Skinner, Sheary, and Olofsson are your top 3 LW's you have a major problem. Not enough ozone starts to go around.

He was "done" coaching hockey because he got (frank)ed over, hard, with no lube. Especially when you had more success than anyone since they went to the Cup all the way through their playoff run a couple years ago, sure it's relative, but 3rd in the division beats last. It's tough to blame a guy for taking a few years off after that.

Olofsson needs to be in the top 6 imo to maximize his talent. If they bring in another dynamite LW and re-sign Skinner, then maybe you rethink that

Olofsson-Mitts-Nylander

Stripes, do you think Skinner will sign for that? Seems to be low number. Okposo will be difficult to move to anybody imo. I like the rest of it.

The time to do that would have been after Minn. bought him out. I'm as big of a Vanek fan as there is, but I don't see it as a fit. Olofsson is a better top-6 option at this point, and Pommer is a better bottom-6.
