Leafs have 99.7 million in cap space until the first game of the regular season.
There should be no worry of losing a player to an offer sheet.
It’ll be tough to get it all down to 83 M but Dubas has all summer and will cut off the dead weight.
Edit: and will have about 87 million until Dermot and Hyman come back. |

Well one thing is for sure. Locking up Marner to a longer term guarantees AM won't be leaving after 5 years. They're joined at the hip b'ys. |

I’m not sure about that, but it’s good to have a close team.
SJ has a pretty damn close team apparently and not many players have left other than a 38 year old Marleau.

Holzer got slashed on the ankle after the whistle and then speared. And Slovakia gets a 5 on 3 out of it.
More proof that IIFH and their rules/officiating are a joke. |

I think AM will be moved to ARI in his final year. There’s too much money to make for the NHL not to make it happen. Toronto will always sell tickets and merch.
I think AM is our best player, but I’d trade him for Tkatchuk and Chabot if Ottawa was willing. |

Sucks that a lot of people couldn't watch him last night since it was a late start. But it was great to see. |

Doesn't he have a no trade or no movement clause in the last yer of his deal?
And ewww. No thanks. |

He’d waive it I’m sure if the circumstances were right (already won a cup, more money etc).
Brady Tkatchuk is going to a (frank)ing amazing player with a huge impact.. Chabots ceiling is higher than Riellys..

I'm still a firm believer that these two want to stay on the same team. On the other hand the Leafs have to protect the AM asset one year before expiry. Can't take the chance of Austin walking with no return. Wanted a longer deal at the time but Cap said otherwise. |

I guess it also comes down to if Arizona still has a team by then.
Tkachuk is a goofy (frank) that rivals ECHL in goofy ugliness. He can stay where he is (and I don't think he's gonna be anywhere near as good as you think he will be). And Chabot rivals Karlsson in complete lack of defensive awareness. I'll keep the all world player and best even strength goal scorer in the league. |

Well I guess we'll find out in roughly 5years. Let's file it away in archives for future reference. Hoping we're all still sucking air, that is. |

Oh yeah.
I don’t know exactly where you got confused, but it was a pretty standard comment. There’s been tons of talk about AM playing for his hometown since before he played in the NHL. I think he’s not married to the idea of being a Leaf forever.
As for Tkatchuk and Chabot, that’s more than fair value for him. |

Tkatchuk is more than a goofy ECHL looking or whatever, player.
He’s a (frank)ing stud and he’ll punch you in the face. I expect him to have a similar career path as Marchand.
You guys who think Karlsson sucks are really really special. |
