Let him go to arbitration, they use comparables and his all didn't get much more than that. Last year 40 of 44 players settled prior to arbitration. It rarely occurs and the team almost always ends up with the deal they want.

Dillon also went to the finals the year before signing but he's a pretty good comparable as far as role goes.

Regardless those aren't the comparables they look at.


Montour just signed for 3.2 and hes a better player.
Beauliu signed for 2.4 after putting up 19 and 28 pt seasons
Orlov signed a 1 year 2.5 deal after putting up 29 pts.
Stetcher signed 2.3 after 23 pt season.

Karlsson is awesome, best dman the league has seen since Lidstrom and it's not close. Arguably he's been one of the best players in the league some of those years. He's had a great career, I hope he wins and expect he still has a few more great seasons left.

No way do I want the nucks to bring in that salary a and term. He would at best elevate us to the Sens teams the past few years and then would be a massive anchor.
