“Defence” isnt important for defensmen

He has ZERO value to a bubble team as long as he has a NMC/NTC he refuses to waive. We aren’t winning a cup in those 2yrs, so what’s his purpose/value? Make sure we wind up picking a couple spots lower in the best draft in years (2020) after taking up cap space that could’ve been used more creatively towards the build & then refusing to get traded for assets at the TDL? There is no way he’s an asset to this franchise at this stage.

Anyone who think Hutton isn't worth 2.4 - 3 million is dumb. A signed player has much more trade potential and he's proven he can be a 4/5 guy.

Edler will surely miss 30 games and Hughes will probably be sent down to Utica....

Moving on from a competent dman who you've spent years developing and won't cost much is asinine.

If we actually had players ready to step in, sure move him for whatever but we don't.

Karlsson is awesome, best dman the league has seen since Lidstrom and it's not close. Arguably he's been one of the best players in the league some of those years. He's had a great career, I hope he wins and expect he still has a few more great seasons left.

No way do I want the nucks to bring in that salary a and term. He would at best elevate us to the Sens teams the past few years and then would be a massive anchor.

I think Hutton could not make the 5-6 spot on most playoff-ready NHL clubs...but on non-PO teams he's a lock lol.

How was he not competent? He certainly was over his head playing 30 min a game against other teams best but he did fine otherwise, even more so when you consider the amount of time he played with gudbranson.

This team needs to find more 40 pt dmen, but you don't throw away a 20 pt dman who has improved just because the team is stale. By all means they should move him, but they're better off signing him and moving him throughout the season when a team is desperate. Mediocre RFA rights aren't worth anything.

He injured the same shoulder twice this year. This will probably see him fall down draft boards, but his skills as a defender are causing me to think he may be the 2nd or 3rd best Dman in this draft.
