Canucks D isn’t bad because of Hutty, it’s bad because of Eddy and Tanny. If you replace him with one of the guys on the farm nothing will change. You will think “yes, Bensey is finally making changes on the back end”, but the results will be the same.

Like Nucker I am fully expecting Canucks to draft the 9 th best forward that will have a combined 27 Canuck goals in the next five years

- VANTEL

Hoping for a Pettersson / Horvat scenarios where we drafted 5th and got the best forward in the draft, in Pettersson’s case, and we drafted Horvat 9th and got the 4th best forward.

Hell, I think Boeser’s the 7th / 8th best forward of 2015 and he was drafted 23rd.

The only problem with Edler and Tanev are the injuries. If they could both play 70+ games a year, there is nobody in the pipeline that could replace that right now. Hell nobody can replace them for the 40-50 games they do play. We have a better chance of winning games with them than we do without them, every game. OJ and Hughes are not ready to be our top defenders to compensate with both of them gone.

Not that I know of ??

Heard he got badly concussed which would scare me off. Didn’t see it though. Edit. Just saw it. Hit from behind and helped off the ice. Woozy. No idea how serious

Hits like that happen all the time and most players bounce back the next game. It looked more like a shove than a hit to me.

That’s your problem right there. If your strategy going into the season is for your top two guys to stay healthy for 70+ games...

Having Sautner or Brisebois playing 25 min per night against the other teams top forwards is going to get you the same results (or worse) than Hutton/Stecher.

I don’t care is there is anyone who can “replace” what Edler does. Not a playoff team next year, it doesn’t matter.

That is a guarantee, not an "or" Unless we acquire a better RHD through trades, it is not worth it to go into the season without Tanev. Sure he will get injured, but for the first 15 games he will be a big help for players that need to be sheltered a bit, and then when he is injured for 10 games they can be thrown into the fire, then he can come back for 5-10 and give them a break.

SN650 on Tuesday and Benning said in an interview a few times they tried moving some players at TDL

One would think he'll try again at the draft.

if your rotating btwn fire and breaks then why not just run by committee? tanev can go jump in a lake and get injured doing so for all i care now. his play is in decline and not the model partner he once was. as 1970s said it doesnt matter anyways, so green should just balance things out, scratch guys for breaks or rotate the tough assignments to the kids

Depends on who is available via trade. Trouba? yes. Ristolainen? questionable. Faulk and Barrie would be mistakes. a UFA in Myers would be better than some 30 year old with 1 or 2 years left. Who else would be available?

I was told he is a tire fire defensively and it was laughable to suggest the Canucks should acquire him by people in here
