Um, if this was actually offered there is no way Chevy could turn that down. The only way an offer like that comes for Trouba is if Detroit was allowed to negotiate an extension beforehand. Even then I think it would be an overpay by Detroit. Hronek is going to be a legit Top 2. I'm not sure if Athanasiou is actually playing centre or wing now though.

Two things from Frank Seravali interview on 1290 this afternoon.

-he mentioned Shiefele, Wheeler and Morrisey are all training together with Adam Oates already. That’s great but I have to say since I had heard rumours 55&26 were actually not that close or getting along based on rumours I was told. This news today would obviously go against that so it’s important to me I mention that. Also, should we not be offering Oates an assistant coaching job by now?

-secondly, he mentioned the Avs and Detroit as interested in Trouba. I for one never buy into the whole “don’t trade within your division BS”. If the Avs make the best offer, take it!! If they give us the 4th overall and Connor Timmons (although I’d need to know more about his health) I’d take it.

Love Brandon Tanev, no one works harder than Tanev. Really hope he's resigned. Don't have quite the same opinion on Dano as you, but seemingly a good team guy.
One thing the Jets might do is get Kadri and move him for a d-man? Then it might be someone like Roslovic/Appleton moving to second line? Might that work better?

And? Points aren’t typically a reliable measuring stick for players. Actually, I never look at points when comparing players.

Nikolaj Ehlers is our best winger, by some distance, and would likely hit 90 points with a full season of Scheifele and a team with a system that doesn’t drown all offensive players

To NHL GMs, perception is reality. The perception around Trouba is that he’s a big, fast dman who logs heavy minutes against top players, has elite defensive ability, and just dropped 50 points. He’s also in the middle of his prime, and has been known to be hitty. His value could quietly rival Karlsson’s just by virtue of comparative age and health

Love Ehlers as well. Connor and Nicky are untouchable IMO.
No there is no way Ehlers will get 82 games with Scheif-Wheeler - but most night think it will be Ehlers-Schef-Wheeler or Connor-Scheif-Wheeler - that gives them the best chance to win.
Can't play all 82 games with the same lines, gotta be prepared for injuries.

Yes the Leafs would have Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Laine to pay - but that's their problem.

Never said Trouba was chopped liver. I expect to get for Trouba, what Calgary got for Hamilton, or what Ottawa got for Karlsson.
