13 days to sign these players

Any names you would take a stab at?

I guess it is easier when you are playing against 3rd/4th line forwards all the times

Must be a Russian thing. Sergachev tries to play his offside even though I read an article saying he was way better defensively on the left but couldn't play offence on the left. (frank)en Russians'

Kristoffer Gunnarson and Matthew Brassard look too be interesting.

Kidding aside Noel Hoeffenmeyer might be worth a 6th round pick.

I feel like d-men that can competently play both sides is similar to the mythical unicorn....

Anyone who says that a defenseman can probably needs to be more realistic.....

After June 1st, you won't need to pony up anything.
I don't remember last years list and whether anyone was even signed to an NHL contract to another team.

I would definitely look to give out a few AHL contracts to a couple of players but Hoeffenmayer and Ryan McGregor were two players that I wanted Van to draft but both ended up going one round ahead of where I had wanted them. Pretty much I wanted them instead of Gunnarsson and Brassard

Remember when DP could play both sides or was forced too?

Not positive on this, but, I believe they re-enter the draft, just like Adam Mascherin from a previous draft/s.

Haven't the Canucks said multiple times that Hughes can play both sides?

Of course he can (all elite talents can & the alphas are willing to - playing a different side isn’t 🚀 science). But he shouldn’t. He should be enabled to play at his absolute peak. With a responsible/reliable/compatible RHD partner.

I’ve been a Seider fan all along but I really don’t want any Dman at 10. Jordan Spence is still my preference - take him later & develop him to replace Tanev as Hughes partner.

By all means, plug an incompatible giant beside him & see how that works out. Positioning/spacing/a good stick & compatibility (puck control/exits/entries) >>>> “size”.

I wouldn't mind trading down and picking up a 2nd while taking Seider, but I'm also fine with taking a fwd at 10. No matter what I expect we'll get a quality player

Why not?

He’ll be a huge addition (literally and figuratively) when he returns.

It still helps to have one defender on the ice that has a shot at keeping the goalie from being screened. I'm not saying he is a bad pick, A really good 5'10" guy is always better than a 6'3" decent guy to have. But I would rather a guy like Woo with Hughes and that kid with a guy like Broberg. Unless you want our defense to play goalie more than Tanev does.

Don't need the Russian cry-baby attitude in the change room. Already a whiner and who knows where it would go? Plus he wasn't overly stellar in the KHL so why does that give us the impression he'd be a good long-term NHL'er?

Only Edler and Tanev to go from the Country Club era no use starting another one.

This is why I strongly encourage to draft Broberg or York. The cost is stupid to acquire a Dman. Even Juolevi who hasn't done anything has good trade value.

Per Patrick Johnston on Twitter:

"Had one scout tell me that Broberg would be a Virtanen-esque pick. Good but flawed prospect, with plenty of better options still available"

At #10 this year they’ve gotta pick a forward, there’s just too much talent out there and God knows our top six talent pool needs some TLC. Not a good year to take a defenseman at #10.

I trust Benning and Brackett will do just that. (draft a forward)

I would think then that scout needs to find another job. Comparing a Dman to a forward is not usually the way most scouts would describe a player.

Aside from the odd comparison of the scout , you like Jake .

Broberg is the second coming of Edler.

He's not directly comparing him to Virtanen. he's saying that there are better players that he would pick ahead of Virtanen.

By all accounts Soderstrom is even considered a better defenseman than Broberg.

Not to mention the handful of forwards likely available for the Canucks to pick at 10.

Soderstrom it is then.
