A full-season rental, yes. under contract for one year and then a UFA.
Currently, Trouba has no contract and there's no guarantee that he'll sign with the team that acquires him. That was not the case with EK.

Ultimate, I was commenting on your Ken Wiebe report re: Trouba going to UFA no matter what. Is their any confirmation for that? And what would the Jets response be? Low ball him? Threaten no power play time?
It seems like a gamble that is unnecessary for Trouba, unless he's just pissed at the Jets....

I have not read this, in today’s paper Ken Wiebe wrote, “there’s no guarantee he will sign”. Not sure I’d say that means “he absolutely won’t sign an extension”. But hey not like ultimate doesn’t have a history of mis quoting anyone or anything lol

I'm all in with that. Not the only deal I would accept but one of them. Other pieces (Perrault/Little) may have to move which they should.

Chevy has balls, Dumas caved. Any Wpg RFA with unrealistic demands will sit a year and lose a years paycheck rather than undermining the team with a ransom signing.

Nylander is on a steal of a contract. He’s going to have a massive breakout next season, as will Matthews if Babcock is smart enough to put them together for roughly ALL THE GAMES.

Seriously though. Those two are the perfect example of two players elevating each other to a level higher than either could possibly reach without the other guy. It’s like the anti-Wheeler/Scheifele relationship.

Just dropping in here to make a quick comment or two and then back to enjoying my summer without the distraction of following countless white noise trade suggestions.

1) Trouba absolutely wants to go to play for the Panthers. Yes , his girlfriend is from down there and yes, he won't be staying so Chevy might as well act now .

2) I liked Lemieux's play but as some of us suspected he was truly cancer in the dressing room and with some of the younger players. He was destroying team chemistry here and leadership on the Jets wanted him gone and has that request granted with the NYR trade.

3) Sheif was super upset at the first round loss. It hit him really hard. Hence the quick exit.

4) Myers is looking at $6.5 MM elsewhere and Chevy can't really afford that. Too bad unless he somehow takes a lesser deal to stay. He does like it in the Peg.

I would love that. I really enjoyed hanging out with Ross, which is why I am confused where the hostility is coming from. We have different perspectives on the team and I appreciate the passion all fans bring to this board.

He was worth less than Nelson due to being RFA rather than UFA. Where are you seeing a request for 8.5? The number I see is that he was seeking 7m. Lots of the speculation for his contract at the time was for about 5-5.5m. Dumas caved because he let the value bar be moved significantly by a player on a controlled contract. He knew it too because if they were willing to go all the way to 6.9 there is no reason that contract couldn't have been done in Sep/Oct.

His cap hit is 6.96, it’s hilarious how hard you guys try to avoid just saying 7 million and round down to 6.9. Like it makes you feel better.
For the record, his contract is fine and fair but seriously just call it 7 already.
