Anthony Travalgia: Bruins and Blues built similarly; Scrimmage on tap As Bruce Cassidy mentioned, the Bruins and Blues play a similar style of hockey.

Please don't talk about the styles that are actually successful, you will hurt the feelings
of all the finesse only ,speed and skill know nothing bloggers on HB. Look at final four this year, the finalists and cup champs from last year, none employ a bottom six of the
Innes, Petan type . I was laughing during the year listening to leaf games with Craig Simpson talking about how the trend is going to be the Petan,Tyler I. SKILL 4TH LINES. Like they were proving how valuable and successful teams with fast, finesse
no grit types were. It was going to be the rage in the NHL. How did that work out ?
I guarantee that even Superboy Dubas does not have a small ,finesse, speed only
4th line going into next years playoffs. Like you have pointed out Bruins and Blues are
physical, talented, gritty teams. Sharks had Haley and Goodrow on their 4th had they made it. No Petan types to be found. Wonder if now the same bloggers are going to
call that a trend. 2 years in a row bigger, more physical Cup Champs. Great series coming up.

Looking forward to the finals! Gonna be a hell of a series! I hope the winning Stanley Cup goal regardless of who wins is Bobby Orrish!

Like the idea of some kind of scrimmage. Cassidy is a good coach trying to figure
a way to keep them sharp. 10 days is a long time. This being the finals helps.
Knowing that this is for all the marbles is going to help in my opinion. You can't
be too worried about injuries, I mean they could happen at any time. Luck is
always part of it.

I don't see how this series doesn't go 7. Not as exciting as the potential Joe Thornton full circle story but from a Hockey point of view these two teams could not be more evenly matched. I can't wait for Monday night!!

It’s going to be a hell of a series. Can’t wait. Disgustingly hoping for a Blues win.

As the playoffs were progressing, I was thinking the same thing. All the talk every year seems to be about the game going younger and with more skill and speed.

But what two teams are still standing? Blues and Bruins, two big beefy teams that like to play a heavy game.

I'm looking forward to this. It is completely unexpected.

I'm thrilled the Blues are matched against a storied franchise like the Bruins and not someone like Carolina or Columbus. It gives this a real nostalgic feel.

I think the Bruins are a more talented version of the Blues, but St. Louis just has a feel about them that's different - I expect and hope for a long series.

Good luck to ya.

This is what scares me a lot... they seemed destined for it. Blues were always my fave team outside of Boston and the only other team I would cheer for it Boston was out of the playoffs...

Yeah, I would like to think you're right. But "destiny" only takes you so far. You still have play the games.

I have no doubt the best team will win this series, whomever it may be.

I think it is going to be a tough series. Part of me likes both teams. Don't get me wrong, I grew up in south western Ontario, so I am a leafs fan through and through. As a kid growing up in the 80s, and 90s I always like the Blues as my other team. I remember getting excited for a Brett Hull, or Curtis Joseph hockey card. Later in my teens, Boston was always the other team I cheered for. Now it is painful to see Boston succeed after the recent playoff history with the Leafs. Both teams fought hard to reach this point, and I won't know which way I am leaning until the puck drops.

what scares me is that the Bruins are favored, I'd feel better as an underdog with a chip on their shoulder.. that, and Binnington is having a Kenny Bleeping Dryden kind of year.

When you finish the Season with the 2nd Best Record in the League (tied) chances are you'll be favored in almost all series.
I think most people totally have forgotten this.

Bruins, I have loved your team for a few decades. Still have the St. Louis newspaper for the cup in 11. You are my team in the east. Go frick yourselves. Blues in 6. At least Backes will get to see the cup, unfortunately not hold it. Ha ha. Bergeron Marchand Pasta Krecji Chara Macavoy Rask, I like all of you guys. Not now though.
