Sent you a PM re: Kings, but if you would prefer to take a break from the Ranger madness, I'll do them.

i WAS 17 in May of 1994 and I can still recall seriously thinking I was having a heart attack when Zelepukin scored w 7.7 seconds left. There was NO WAY I thought we were winning that game in OT. Then only about 25-30 seconds before Matteau won it there was that Devils 2 on 1 where Richter lost the puck and no one for that second or 2 knew where it was. My God was that stress. It all worked out in the end, its been beaten to death by us but what a run and series that was, an all timer! Best hockey to this day I ever saw.

25 years to the day, it's incredible

It really is Jimmy, a quarter freaking century has passed, unreal. It was so great also to see how the rest of the sports world and NY was hockey crazed for those few months. Special moment in time that can never be duplicated.

hockey was on top of the world briefly, everyone was talking about

Seinfeld and Friends were the two biggest TV shows at the time and they both featured Ranger games in the scripts, and how did the NHL capitalize on it?

they had a lockout

Awful...also with hockey being mainstream for a minute you had Clerks as one of the bigger movies of that summer and they featured the hockey game up on the roof of the store.

it was terrible, plus, Richter almost killed McCreary when he protested

the whole thing was probably about as much as I could bare at the time, I reached the limits of my anxiety

That's right, he got in his face and def made contact. McCreary was a good ref and I think he knew the emotion going on there and let it go. It was the right call, Zelepukin was in Richter's grill but no interference.
