It would be a shame to lose Roslovic because Maurice refuses to give him a fair chance at playing on the top two lines or at center his natural position. He did this with Schiefele until he was forced to play him on the 1st line due to an injury to Little which became his breakout season. He sent Connor back to the Moose and only brought him back due to an injury. Petan wasn't so lucky and never really was given a fair chance to play his style of game with other skilled players, not just dump and chase 4th liners. I fear that he will be given a chance with the Leafs and come back to haunt the Jets. Now he's playing the same game with Roslovic, who should be given the chance to play on the 2nd line with Liane and Ehlers. Scheifele and Connor where in the right place and got a chance to prove themselves, Petan wasn't so fortunate, so whats the fate of Roslovic. |

Hey Peter,
I know I am going to get lots of heat for this post, but so be it.
I think the Jets should go out and sign Mikhail Grigorenko. He played good at the WHC. He reminds of me of guys like Dadonov and Panarin, guys who got to the NHL in their mid twenties after figuring out their games.
Dadonov was 28 when he came back to the NHL and in his last season in the KHL, he recorded 66 points in 53 games. Panarin was 23 when he began his NHL career and also got 62 points in 54 games in his last season in the KHL.
This past season in the KHL, Grigorenko had 52 points in 55 games. He plays center and one time was considered a can't miss prospect. He's also 25 now. I think it would be a low risk, high reward signing. The worst that can happen is that he does not pan out and gets waived.
What are your thoughts? |

He could be worth a try for a very reasonable short term contract.

he's a guy who could return to the NHL and be successful. A couple reasons why the Jets might pass on the opportunity:
1. Jets are in win-now mode and a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
2. There are a couple other projects such as Roslovic, Appleton, Copp or Lowry that are equally good risks for auditioning for 2c
3. We don't know the nitty-gritty of why a can't miss prospect missed with two teams starved for talent. Homesick? Injuries? Hangovers? etc.
Bottom line is someone may take a chance on him - and that's not a wrong decision - but I don't like it for the Jets.

When Scheifele got hurt two years ago, Maurice decided to use Wheeler instead of Copp or Lowry. Jets fans should give up the dream that either will get a chance at the 2c position |

Not sure I see either Copp or Lowry fitting in as a top 2C - not enough offensive potential, although Copp has shown flashes at times. Every NHL team would love an Adam Lowry for 3rd line C.
Grigerenko? He was the player that everyone thought he was actually older than birth certificate, wasn't he? Obvious offensive abilities, wouldn't hurt to give him a tryout contract, if he wants one. Kind of doubtful, but?
Not sure why we are still bemoaning the loss of Petan, had chances, nothing stood out - offensively or defensively. A player only gets so many chances, some not many, unless they show a strength that stands out, they don't last long in the NHL.
Love Jack Roslovic - hope he is not dealt for 2nd line C or D-man. He'll get his chances if he's patient, he has earned that right with his play. Lots of offense here, blossoming, and defense can be taught given time. He's a player IMO. |

Lowry and Copp are not #2 centers...neither brings enough offense......they just don't have that skill set.
Roslovic has lots to prove. He may be a better RW than a center.

Kadri is an absolute NO. His best years are behind, and Ras will be cheaper as well. Kadri also became the NHL's alltime leader in Diving minors, and makes 8 hits per season, 7 of which are suspensions. I would sooner have Matt Cooke be our gutless pest, and I have no respect for the guy.
He is in no was a "Jet" and we should avoid him like the plague unless we want our bottom 6 C's making 11M collectively.
Find a home for Trouba that lands the Jets a LD, and find a suitor for Little after his successful season. Heck, move Kuli if you can too Chevy. Those are the major cap issues.

You’re confusing a lack of finish with a lack of skill. Both drive play and both create chances. Lowry is the more defensive leaning of the two, while Copp is a sneaky passer. |

I’m going the positivity route here. Let’s make a list of Jets we all love without issue.
Let’s begin:
Mark Scheifele
Josh Morrissey
Probably David Gustaffson when he shows up
Anyone have anyone to add? |

I'm assuming you're not asking for perfection, so:
Laurent Brossoit
Adam Lowry |

I have really started appreciating Andrew Copp over this past season. My evaluation of him was incorrect. He really impressed me once he was split from Lowry. The work he did with Appelton and Lemieux was fantastic. I believe he is the reason why Lowry's Corsi is high.
I really like Ehlers, Connor and Roslovic as well. And, who can forget about my main man in net, Hellebyuck. |

I don't know if it is a surprise but had it confirmed to me by a very solid source who knows the right things that Trouba is gone. It's over. |

the without issue part is the thing - there is no perfect player. So I will break it down a little:
untouchables in 2019(as much as any player can be untouchable for a trade)
Scheifle, Wheeler, Buff, Laine, Morrissey, Hellebyck
like what they bring
connor, ehlers, Lowry, Tanev, Copp, Trouba, Myers, Chiarot, Little, Roslovic, Niku, Brossoit,
thanks for your work in Winnipeg
Kulikov, Morrow, Comrie |

untouchables in 2019(as much as any player can be untouchable for a trade)

like what they bring
connor, ehlers, Lowry, Tanev, Copp, Trouba, Myers, Chiarot, Little, Roslovic, Niku, Brossoit,

Kulikov, Morrow, Comrie - 2.0
I would not label Buff as an untouchable. I think now is the time to move him.
I am a huge basketball fan as well. I think sometimes you have to trade away an identity player to get over the hump. The same way that Masai traded away Derozan to get Kawhi. I was sad to Derozan go at the time. Those tears have been replaced by this jubilation that my team is finally in the finals.
Buff is in the same category. He's got to go! |

My untouchables: Ehlers, Scheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Lowry, Roslovic, Niku, Morrissey, Hellebuyck
Like - Byfuglien, Laine, Myers, Tanev, Copp, Appleton, Chiarot, Vesalainen, Berdin, Samberg, Stanley
Could be had - Perrault, Little, Trouba, Morrow, Beaulieu, Comrie, Gustaffson, Kulikov
Realize list contains some UFA's and some RFA's. Of course almost no one is really untouchable and some "could be hads" are only available because of cap situation and contracts. |

I heard the same thing to from my source. I know the real reason why Trouba wants out. It has very little to do with Winnipeg or Canada and the reason is very personal.
I understand his reasoning and wish him well. |

You heard that he is gone right away or will this drag out to the trade deadline like we all know was going to happen |

Look at the Jets 2017-18 playoff roster that probably should have won the cup and keep 5-7 players. That "core" is all that should be necessary to win it all within the next 6 years, the rest of the team should be filled out through free agency, trades and draft picks.
My picks Hellebuyck, Morrissey, Scheifele, 2 of 3 (Laine,Ehlers,Conner), and 1 of 2 (Lowry,Copp) |

Then you are aware of Copp’s creativity, and Lowry’s constant presence in tight |

No, not perfection.
LB is a good one because he’s just so pretty.
Lowry wasn’t nominated for me because people think he’s a 4C when he’s not |
