Agree with the article. Maybe Murray ought to take a page of the Flyer's handbook this season and hire every coach out there. When they grabbed Vigenault, Therriean and Yeo, I thought, "What the heck?" Now it makes sense. They don't trust one coach to right the sinking ship. Murray will hire Eakins, Lambert and Vincent to get just one more mile out the roster before he's kicked to the curb.

Murray is getting one last look here at making the right choice.... then he’s toast ....

I wonder if these interviews could lead to some of these guys being assistants.
Because for sure the PP and PK need to be fixed.

And we really haven’t see the development of the young D like we used to. Especially with Bowness I’m thinking he’s looked at a guy that really grows young D.

IMO a rebuild doesn’t make sense, at least not this offseason. There are some really promising young forwards coming up and you never know when one will have a breakout. If it happens to a couple more players or if a couple bounce back (Perry!) then it changes everything for a year or two. Especially with all of the injuries from this past year I think you let a coach come in and see what happens. You can always trade a couple guys during the year and go from there. With next years lighter free agent pool it looks like a better time to start a rebuild anyways when your players might have a bit more value and less term

Murray signed his 2 year contract extension in December of last year. That's hardly a sign the GM is in "self preservation mode." I'll admit the team had a good record then, but the underlying stats left a lot to be desired.

And I don't get the idea the team needs a rebuild. Retool, sure, but why rebuild? Unless you're thinking such a rebuild is defined by adding Terry, Jones, Steel, Comtois, etc to the lineup. Then I'll agree.

I don't have a problem with an extended coaching search. The team already has an idea who they'll draft at #9 and #29 so it's not like having a coach today is imperative to their draft strategy. Let Murray due his due diligence here. As was mentioned, maybe he's also looking at potential assistant coaches too.

Dallas Eakins was never a shoe in. He was a candidate for sure. But never the heir apparent. Don't know why people are so high on him. His work in Edmonton was average. And the thing people praise him for is being a good communicator. I'm not sure that that skill will translate into the NHL where players are making millions of dollars. Sure being respected and like are good. But X's and O's are more important.
And except Oilers fans I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about Dallas. But maybe it's better we should say that there might be a better candidate out there. And that Bob's right to look. Otherwise we take the chance of not being the best we can be
