Karine Hains: Another 65 in Montreal? Today, multiple sources reported that Erik Karlsson is hoping to get competitive offers from both Ottawa and Montreal when he becomes a free agent this summer. If this is true, it is interesting to say the least...

If Karlsson really has an interest in playing in Montreal, Bergy needs to throw a pick SJ's way and get it done before the draft

Are you really piling on the baseless smear job that the Karlsson’s manufactured about Monika Caryk?

The Karlsson’s should consider replacing their cyber bullying charity with a due (frank)ing process charity.

I recognize that it was an emotional time for them but they should either produce some real (frank)ing evidence or withdraw their bullpoop claims of bullying. Good job smearing a teammates partners reputation because you can’t handle anonymous trolls online. Talk about spineless.

Think he'd be able to work it out though? Karlsson wouldnt want to see what would be offered elsewhere? Can they actually talk numbers in the 5 days before July 1st?

The money will be similar wherever he decides to go, if the reports about his preferred destinations are true, why not? Bergy can go into the draft and free agency with Karlsson locked up and a real idea of what he wants to do

I'm all for it if it can be done...wonder if Petry could be moved at the draft if it's certain enough

Absolutely he could, Bergy could entertain offers on a 50 point RD with 2 years left on the draft floor, that would be great, could end up picking twice in the 1st round

Petry for TJ Brodie would be interesting. He's a little younger but only signed for 1 year though...

I don't know if I'd do it for more than 7 years at 10 million per. Not to take away from him when he was at his best but I question his durability and whether he's in decline. I'm not sure it's in their best interest to sign another aging player to an albatross contract, especially when their needs are on the left side.

I hope this hoopla dies down and Bergevin sticks to the well thought out plan that involves drafting as many prospects as we can and developing these young men. It's working so why deviate now? Can any of you remember a time, at least since 1993 where we've had this many players in the system that provided a glimpse of sincere hope. Guys that actually have a chance to make an impact in the NHL. Stockpile assets. Free agency sucks. Steer clear of it.

EK is a free agent. No need to trade assets for him.

Habs only missed playoffs by 2 points...had they had EK I think they would of been in playoffs and probably comfortably. His presence and play time surely would of netted them at least 2 more points last year.

If EK wants to play on your team you definitely try and make it work.

I'd rather they trade Petry for a 1st at the draft if Karlsson is to be a Hab... then sign Edler and trade for a RW

Yeah, don't really know how that works. They can't make a formal offer, but surely they don't just give the player an helicopter tour of the city.

agree. because without this information he would have had trouble attracting interest on the open market.

And it's more about having it done before the draft more than free agency if all this has truth to it
