Might be wrong on the exact amount of time but I'm pretty sure Spezza finished the last half of the season playing the wing. Ottawa looks deeper on the LW than RW so that could be a real nice fit.

Anton Stralman should be our first target. The guy is declining but we can afford to spend to the cap floor. A 3x3 for him is extremely realistic and it gives our right side some stability.

I'd go as far as to say start him on the top pairing and see if we can forge a brannstrom/demelo second pairing that we could actually contend with down the road.

His minutes can be reduced if it doesn't work but Stralman seems like a real pro who can help our young defenseman work out the kinks in their game. If ceci could emulate him he may even be worth the 5x6 we're about to give him.

Maybe Ken Holland would entertain our first and ceci for their 8th overall? Ceci has value in this league despite his detractors. They are desperate for defenseman.

Jason Spezza would be a great signing. I agree with all your comments here. I'd actually rather he be shifted to the wing and get some PP time. We may be able to boost his value for a deadline swing to a contender. He may even be down for that as we know he wants a cup.

Boyle clogs up the forward corps too much. I may be alone in this but resigning Lindberg, gibbons and adding Spezza may be the best thing we do. I don't want these Belleville kids handed anything. I want them to force our hand. If we end up scratching the three vets in favor of the kids who cares? That's a good thing. Coach needs to be excellent at evaluating his talent. Let's let him do that. Not just give him a bunch of kids and force his hand.

Jordie Benn spent a good chunk of his NHL time on the right. He’s among lefties who are comfortable there.

I am intrigued by the rumours of Kadri being shopped. He would take a huge amount of focus off the kids. He is the only player on a very soft Leaf team that plays with an edge. He would be near the top of my list of any player that the Sens might acquire.

Love the idea of Spezza coming back. Next year is going to be rough and having his laugh break the tension would be great.

I like the idea of lovejoy as well, but is there any chance at pomminville? Sens need to hit the floor and they need RW.

Don't let Ek hear about the Spezza idea. It will soon morph into a sign and trade. Hearing Philly is involved. And a mystery team in the West.lol.

Stralman will get plenty of interest from more Stanley Cup contender teams I imagine

Marleau may be good with an asset added

His salary being payed mostly up front would make this a great trade for each team, but he'd never waive his NMC to come to Ottawa.

I've floated the idea before, but Ottawa could work as a middle man, to eat some of the cap space at a supreme discount. I think?

Outside of signing Spezza I think the sens should stay away from UFA’s and focus on using their cap space to get some assets from other teams

They shouldn't be signing any veteran free agents. They should be trading for veterans on bad contracts and getting valuable sweeteners for taking the contract.
