Sorry, meant to add that. Lengthens the defensive depth, which has expanded substantially in the past year. Has the opt clause to go back, but hopefully he stays in the AHL if he doesn't break camp with the team. Definite upside, now New York has to figure on how to create room for all these young players in the system. That will be the challenge for Gorton and JD moving forward in the near- and long-term.

Cannot go wrong with Byram. It’s a choice of BPA over need upfront.

I would definitely draft Byram if I were the Hawks, I totally agree with the pick

I do think the Kings probably lust after him and I wouldn't be surprised if they made big attempt to move up to 3 and trade with the Hawks before pick is made

at 5, Hawks could still get great forward pick and maybe also end up picking up 22nd overall too

The draft studio thinks this is a great pick. You win by building from the goal out. While the Hawks dynasty no doubt was build on having HOF Kane and Towes, don’t forget that having Seabrook and Keith to lean on for big minutes helped. Kane still has plenty left in the tank and Debrincat emerged on the scene. I think these guys will be fine up front. What they needed to do and got in Byram is cover the back end.

The avalanche is next. This is a pick they got from the Sens. This team is already really set up with young stars throughout their lineup, they can go any number of ways. If I was making the pick, I’d think long and hard about Caufield. There are a number of picks and none of them would be incorrect, I just feel that Cole has the highest potential upside, and if he hits that could propel the Avs to a dynasty. The risk here is that he could have lower floor than a Turcotte or Cozens, but with a young lineup and another 1st in this draft, time to swing for the fences

Peyton Krebs tore his achilles training and it probably pushes him back where he wont be ready for start of next season, wherever he is, maybe that pushes him down in draft?

Nope, I wouldn’t trade up for 3. Byram would be sick though.

With EK's latest rumors today regarding talk HE'S HEARD that the rights to first sign Panarin and Bobrovsky could me moved to either the Panthers, Isles, or Canucks, that must insure that Panarin will eventually become a Ranger.

But that also may not be the result, and may actually lead to EK being correct in the end. That, due to word in Florida again of their owner in Vincent Viola allowing GM, Dale Tallon "to spend all the way up to the cap ceiling for next season" to possibly land both players, as he first expressed back in March. The Panthers most certainly will be in heavily on Bobrovsky, after citing their post trade deadline's sub par goal tending by Luongo and Reimer as being key for them falling short of a postseason spot.

The bottom line is that despite the organization's financial woes in Sunrise, Viola realizes the Panthers will have to do whatever it requires to not only advance that next step, but to also boost attendance and fan interest in general, and in turn prevent the franchise from ultimately leaving Sunrise, Florida for "greener" pastures elsewhere.

So how far do you think he falls? If we stay at 20, are you taking him?
I know of basketball and football players coming back from that injury, but I can't remember an achilles injury to a hockey player...

Erik Karlsson, Seguin, Pageau and Sekera had either tears or cuts to their Achilles'. If I recall, Ryan Whitney had his completely severed and is the main factor for why his career ended early.

Isn’t it when Cooke stepped on his Achilles?

I believe so. Tearing your achilles is a awful injury and a long term recovery process, it stunts the entire legs movement and is some serious pain too and PT. I remember when Vinny Testeverde tore it by just taking a misstep early in the Jets first game in 1999 and didn't return til the next season.

Colorado has made its pick. The 4th overall is still available until Monday evening. Thus the pick will be confirmed when Jan returns from being “off grid”.
