Cant say I know anything about those 3 but there not exactly sexy names.
I hope we look to move up into the top 10-15 this year.
I wonder how far we could move up offering Brodie and #26?
I'm bullish on Spender Knight and I doubt he is there at #26.

Brett Leason.

Get him. Probably couldn't be a better draft slot/team need fit than this for the Flames (apart from top 10 guys like Cozens).

Goalies have been a bit of a mixed bag at the draft in recent years... He might last longer than you think, but who knows these days? Kinda like the Flames busting a nut on Janko years again when Maata was sitting there...

Hoping we do what it takes to be in a position to draft Bobby Brink.

Absolutely not. He's got bust all over him. He's an overager who wasn't very impressive when playing his age group. He also picked up lots of pp points and played with a solid line. He's riding good surroundings not generating his own.

Hopefully Bobby is pushed to the brink of the first round so we can nab him.

Really Todd! Another midget? Don't forget we have Phillips in Stockton, he also put up great #s in his draft year.

Tough to tell. Just takes some guys a little longer. Some people were saying Tkachuk had bust written all over him, not one of us thought Bennett would be.....Bennett.

The guy fills a lot of organizational needs, and as the article said it, might be ready sooner than an 18 year old.

Just to be clear, do you guys agree with Todd's statement on Monahan being a one-way player? His defensive ability seems to be hyped up pretty often, but haven't seen much of it. This isn't an attempt to decry your player; just an inquiry to improve my knowledge of the league to those who know more about the player than I do.

Not sure on Leason.
Overage and did not play well at all at the memorial cup on the big stage.
Excellent size RW which is a team need but he's a below average skater and i'm not sure his game translates to the next level.
If we stay in the 26 slot i'm sure the Flames will strongly consider him though.

It's the 26th overall pick - what are you expecting here? Given where this pick is, you have about a 40-45% likelihood of the pick playing in the NHL anyways. If there is a surer bet, then, yeah, fill your boots, but what I see here are a bunch of question marks.

Those scouting reports suggest that he:

- improved his skating
- plays in the hard areas, offensively and defensively
- has a good shot and release

That sounds like a guy you align with a playmaker like Chucky to me... christ, plant his ass in front of the net and turn him into Ryan Smyth/Tomas Holmstrom type

The 3 guys (in no particular order) I hope the Flames get a chance at picking are Bobby Brink, Spencer Knight and Connor McMichael. That being said, if those 3 are picked by 26, the chances of someone else slipping seem like a good bet. So if we could get someone who has fallen further than expected I’d be happy picking them.

Perhaps, Mem Cup is a 3 game stretch, if you're evaluating guys based on 3 games, that's a bit tough.

Thoughts on Bobby Brink, Todd and the panel?

Seems like a solid player, if a bit of a smaller kid

I think there’s a few people that are down on Monahan right now. I wouldn’t consider him a 1way player by any means.
Guys done nothing but score goals, not sure why all the sudden hate?

10/10 work ethic. Reminds me of Mange a bit. Dominates the corners and half boards and has great hockey IQ.

His draws are his speed and his size. He plays big and is hard to defend. He should be ranked higher (and is on several lists) but you have to be real good if you're small and not the fastest player on the ice. He is that good in my opinion.

Hard no to Leason. 3rd line player at best.

I'm the first one to admit Mangiapanes 2nd half this year was much better than I thought possible. That said to declare he dominates the corners and half boards is a MASSIVE stretch!

If we can attach a player that we will lose in the expansion draft to Seattle in 2 years (Brodie, Mang, Janko etc) to the 26th pick to move up in the draft. I'm all in.

No poop! They think the 30+ goals will be easily replaced with an unproven Mangpie or Dube. Insanity!

Sh!tty getting hurt before the playoffs, but that happens. Maybe there’s more reason for Tre to address team toughness. Someone willing to answer the bell once in a while would be nice. Thought Prout was gonna be that guy, but that never happened. Don’t want another Glass or Peluso, someone like Grats would be fine.maybe there’s a fit with Vegas, they need to shed salary and we were close to signing Reaves last off season. Guy like him might keep the other team honest.

Should have specified I meant what mange looked like in his draft year. That said, he was looking great in the corners by the end of the year and into the playoffs this year too.

I'm definitely not about trading a top four defenseman and a late first to move up to aquire a pick that will at best be #13(philly who is rumoured to be shopping the pick). Especially in a year where so many good teams lost out early and will be desperate for cheap, high-impact options.
