What an absolute Richard quote on Rutherford’s part

Well this is good news but I’ll believe that Phil is staying when the season starts, and further more I’ll believe he finishes the season here when the deadline passes. The relationship looks toast and nothing about what Rutherford said here makes me think any different.

I'm sure whatever the decision is, it will be picked to pieces. Hard point to be at for Pittsburgh; do you commit to a rebuild or try to retool and win another with the current core? I think the argument is that it's difficult to get better now by trading any of those guys. They're still better now than pretty much any return you can get. If you rebuild, then you get some 1sts for these guys, but submit Crosby to a dismal end of an amazing career.

It is kind of funny how the NTC in this case probably saved Rutherford from his own stupidity and/or insanity. Like I said before, there is no possible scenario where the Pens would come out on top in a Kessel trade. Rutherford knew what he was getting when he made this trade, including the 8 team NTC.

Try to retool and win a cup with this core would be the easiest waters to navigate. It’s pretty simple to hold onto Sid, Geno, Phil, and Letang for a retool. All the difficult pieces to acquire are already on the roster. GMJR just has to stop going full blown retard and acquiring dogpoop players on the bottom half of the roster.

Full rebuild would be a complete waste.

J.boyd, you could switch the name Madden with nearly every Pittsburgh radio presence. They are all idiot mini-Maddens. Sad day. The greats are still here but know enough to allow the big mouths to yell loudly.

I don't know, I had faith he would trade kessel for nothing and be fired for it. Now he keeps kessel and if all stays the same its another year of hot garbage.

So, Next year at practice when Sullivan has the team in the corner in front of the whiteboard talking about team defense and backchecking, and hustle, etc, etc, and Kessel is off in the opposite corner F'ing around what should he do?

Bench Phil? (He doesn't care)

Scratch Phil (Also probably doesn't care)

Play him like it's nothing (What message does that send to the rest of the guys on the team?)

Phil has to go, If this "Team" is going to turn the corner they all have to be on the same page - Addition by Subtraction

Can't believe he was even thinking of trading Kessel. You could not replace him. Maybe Rutherford should stop grabbing bollards (JJ) out of favoritism and actually try and make the team better. Love Hot dog Phil. Great news for the Pens.

From Kingerski: So our guy Tom who sees and hears all hockey media says Dreger is adding names to the Penguins trade list tonight, not subtracting. Specifically added Letang.

I don’t know—I don’t see it. GMJR’s words read pretty clear.

Anyone see insider trading?

The Penguins general manager nearly had a trade completed with the Wild last month that would have sent Kessel and Jack Johnson to Minnesota.

I thought I heard here we’d only be able to trade Jacko if packaged with Geno 🤔
Jokes aside it would’ve been great

Apparently though this is something Dreger said on TSN last night. Kingerski disagreed with it, just tweeted it, so it's not really his credibility but Dreger's. I don't know what was actually said though.

I have a feeling JR is back tracking because one of 3 things happened.

1.) He thought he could get more in a trade offer for Kessel and the value isn't there.

2.) He wanted to trade Kessel and wanted to sign a replacement, but he is realizing the prices for wingers has gone up quite significantly. So now it is cheaper to just keep Kessel.

3.) He feared Kessel nixing another trade and it making him look like he lost leverage with his peers and the Penguin players.

I did not. I think JR is open for business, but I can't see Letang being traded. I could see JJ, Schultz, Maatta, and even Gudbranson being traded.
