Give me a break stop acting like Eberle averages 37 points for his career. He is a 25 goal 50 -60 point guy. This is a good deal and he would have gotten more on the open market. Stop trying make it out to be a bad deal when everybody knows it’s a good one. You sound like a moron tbh

Good signing. Would rather Eberle at 5.5 over Skinner at $9 mln

Agreed 9 million is a ton for skinner

Love all the Toronto Trolls are finally back out of their closet. ..

Great signing by Lou. Got both Nelson and Eberle for less than they would have gotten on Open Market. Shows that these guys all want to stay. 2 UFA's locked up and 2 to go!!

The problem is you have a few of those. They add up.

And still cap space to sign on more unlike Toronto!

Another great (shat ) signing by Lou. Fair for the player and team
Even though we really don’t need Eberles 25 goals / 50 points per on this offensive strapped team.

You are loving this 7 and so will I if Lou can improve the top 6.

I just think with a hard cap the majority of teams are top-heavy. Like they pay a handful of all-star players huge money (which they have to do in order to keep them), and then try and round out the roster with cheaper contracts. Can't help but wonder if a team would be better off having a large group of "medium-paid" guys, for lack of a better word. More depth? It is a team sport, after all...

100% loving it.
Great deal no if ands or buts about it. Took less for longer term on the Island but he could have gotten more else where I believe.
Have to hold what you have and add to improve.

7 is the number for Lee up with shorter term and down with longer term. Get him signed and then make a couple trades to boost our top 6.

First thing I thought of.. .my guess is Hall saying he is not extending means the Devils have to move him sooner rather than later. That said what would you give up for him right now as a Pending UFA and what would it take?

Don’t discount that deal being done this off season or TDL. If Hall doesn’t sign the Devils will trade him.

The real key is drafting guys that can contribute when they're on their ELC's or cheaper first contracts.

Some Isles fans don't love Beauvillier, but the reality is that he's been a middle-six winger that has made next to nothing. A player like him would've probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $2M-$4M if you signed them as a UFA.

Bruins/Blues had guys, in no particular order, like McAvoy, Thomas, Carlo, Blais, Dunn, Debrusk, etc... making under $1M on the cap. That's so unbelievably important.

I want Lee signed but this one will be tough. I wonder if Lou will need to package someone like Wahlstrom if he misses on Panarin?

I can't fathom a scenario in which the Devils would trade Hall in their division, but in general I'd look to about what Duchene fetched when he went from COL to OTT. A 1st, a 2nd or 3rd, maybe a roster player and a B+ level prospect.

no one on the 2 cup finalist teams make over 7.5 mill. I get why Buffalo gave Skinner that much $. They have had so much negative press lately they needed to keep the guy who just scored 40 goals. You needed to lock him up long term. I think they overpaid but felt like they had to do it. I can't see another team giving Skinner that much on open market but wtf do I know.

Because of this year? I refuse to believe teams without stars making massive paydays can't win.

Pay your top stars. Do not overpay supporting guys. Lou does not get it.

Notice the 2 deals Leafs want to shed? Marleau and Zaitsev, overpaid supporting guys signed by Lou.

- RogerRoeper

please remind us all of the overpayment Dubass made on the last 6 years of the jt deal??? please remind us
