Change of scenery trades

Take out the goalies & we have a deal - Pysyk is steady & we save 1.75 on salary
Not interested in bringing Reimer back - but am interested in trading Sparks

Anyone that thought Sparks would be a Leaf this coming season should have had their head examined.

Thats kinda the point though. Pysyk>Zaitsev
Sparks (younger and more value)>Reimer

At the beginning of the season I was all for keeping him, longer term it seemed like the smarter thing to do. Clearly that didn't work out as planned.

They had to go with Sparks...they drafted him, they had to show some loyalty to him, and he won the Calder Cup...what are ya gonna do?...McElhinney was obviously the more reliable short term choice for results this past season, but lose your drafted Calder Cup winner to waivers?...we had to give Sparks the chance

exactly right...

big question now is... will Dubas "admit his error" and move on - or will he stubbornly stick to "his decision, his guy" and possibly impact the team negatively again?

exactly the same decision with Nylander by the way...

Nylander will earn his points and $$ if he's playing top 6...if he's 3rd line, he won't get the points or the justification for his $$$.

It's time to cut Sparks loose....with no regrets

If he trades Sparks he would be doing both.

Please revise your trade and take it to the sens thread.

Sens are looking to corner the market on bad overpriced goalies.

I feel more patient with Nylander too, he had good underlying numbers, but his shooting percentage dropped by half, so I'd expect a rebound year. Him and Matthews have big contracts to live up to, so put them together from the start of the season and see what they do with it.

I don't get the Reimer hate... He would be a much more serviceable backup than Sparks. The actual issue with Reimer is he sees himself as a #1. Reimer stole games for us. Sparks lost games for us. Anyone who thinks Reimer has LESS value than Sparks needs to think about it some more. Sparks has zero value in the organization. Head coach doesn't trust him, and there is a backlog of goalies in the minors. He has nowhere to play in the organization. In fact having him on the roster has NEGATIVE value as it just means a heavier workload for Freddie...

Reimer saw himself as that a few seasons ago when he signed that deal with Florida. At the time he had potential and opportunity to be one, take the reigns from an aging Lu. Problem is he didn't seize the opportunity when he got it, and he had multiple opportunities. He would be #3 on that depth chart in October if Lu could still play.

That said, I like the deal. Isn't this Reims last year on that contract? One year taken in for 5 less years of Z. Another defender coming back for a goalie that the coach doesn't trust. Garbage our, garbage in. See what happens.

Well not at all surprised there seeing Sparks being shopped. The writing was on the wall there, especially at the end.

Could he be involved as an add in to a larger deal tied to Marleau or Zaitsev even?!

Looking forward to seeing what happens over the summer, especially with the draft coming up too.

the suggested deal would look very interesting with Reimer at 2M$... (meaning Florida retains some contract).
