Agree completely Ben.
Swapping ugly contracts might be an option however. - Wildschwein

I was thinking Loui Eriksson. While his deal is 1/2 mill more expensive than Ladd’s, it also ends a year earlier. Add to that the fact that Loui would almost certainly produce more offence than Ladd (low bar, I know), and it starts to look tolerable.
Doesn’t hurt that Ladd is a BC boy either.
Not a huge upgrade by any means, but arguably an upgrade nonetheless. |

I think the hate on the Komarov deal is ridiculous. That contract is not preventing them from doing anything and he was brought in for leadership because no one was held accountable for anything before this season. |

Frans Neilsen. Detroit probably says no with ease but he has not done well in Detroit.
If the isles HAVE to keep the Ladd contract, I'd figure out a way to swap for a guy like that. 3rd line center, can flip in and out with Fritz pending on who you are playing. |

Neilsen would be nice, but would Ladd consent to go to Detroit? |

Ladd has played his best game ever for the Islanders. He’s going to be out of the league 2 years tops.
Good career, good character guy but tank is approaching E |

Another accurate blog Ben. Nice job. How about Ladd to Calgary for James Neal? I’ve heard that one more than a few times and I’d do it in a minute if I could. I agree there will be no Islanders’ buyouts. Just get Lehner signed and only sign Lee if it’s reasonable. |

Psssst! Hey mrniftee, guess who?
Good idea on the Neal for load suggestion.
I would also like to see Lou offer sheet Laine or Marner.

That’d be awfully (frank)ing expensive draft picks wise. |

All this Ladd chatter is funny, guy stinks and believe he may be on IR for the year which is a $5.5m break - Hell_Bent
What's your opinion of the Off Sides Bar? Big Islanders Bar in lower Manhattan.
I'm not happy about load's contract, but i'd rather place him on IR. Out of site, out of mind. |

The four picks would be in the mid to high twenties, for the next four years. Well worth the return. Laine, or Marner, paired with Barzal will be a formidable line for the next ten years. |

Well I’d argue that that is... arguable.
Any one of those latter 1st rounders could be the next Boeser, Aho, Pastrnak, Connor or Chabot. And even if none of those picks turn out as such, trading them still guts your organization of future high end talent for a significant period.
Perhaps worth it in the short run, but very risky from a long term organizational standpoint. |

Both do have a NTC but that's a great idea to get the term shortened. Have to think Vancouver would be a bit hesitant though based on that alone. |

Would be great for the Islanders. With a contract a year shorter though and worth a bit less money, along with Nielsen producing more, like you said I think Detroit probably turns that down. |

Depends. Eriksson himself had made it clear he wants out, and though Vancouver would be taking on additional year, they'd still open up a wee bit of cap space on a by year basis.
Might have to throw in a sweetener perhaps. Something along the lines of a 4th or 5th. |
