Great trade easily won by SJS!!!! Braun is mediocre, and will likely be their #3 RD. To get a 2nd, 3rd, and shed that 3.8M contract on a 32 year old D man is very impressive.

Great move by the Sharks to free up that much space and get that much asset for a bag of pucks. Now they're going to feel the sting for many years to come if they keep signing their players for over $7m per season. Pavelski deserves the money but that's too many old contracts that's going to drag them for years.

Drag us down for years says the guy that has Kovy, Brown and Carter on their active roster. And I believe you just took care of Phaneuf or else he would have made the list. I agree we have a lot of money tied up but our players are still producing year after year, so hard not to pay them... A good problem to have currently maybe not in 5-6 years...

Solid trade. I can't seek Melker on this team for much longer either, 2 million is too much on the 4th line with the other contracts. Once he's gone there shouldn't be too much of a problem to keep Pavs around.

Wow. Not much love for Braun. I watch the Sharks quite a bit and he is very underrated. I understand they need to make room but he is a solid d-man. Expect lots of 6-6 games.

He's been consistently underrated and good during his tenure, and had a little slippage last year. But with the top two RHD set, he made the most sense to leave.

So if Pavelski and Meier both combine for around $13 mil, the sharks have like $3 mil for Labanc, plus they need to sign a few other players to round out their bottom 6. Who else can they ship out to cut salary?

Outsider perspective, there isn't much dead weight on this roster, so take your pick? Any news on Thornton coming back? I see him taking less to keep the band together.

Just curious if the Sharks are seriously considering keeping Nyquist. If you guys
re-sign him then our 3rd round pick we got from you guys in the trade for him turns into a 2nd round pick in the draft (not sure if it's this year's or next year's). So... I'm hoping he played well enough for you guys to keep him. Did he meet your expectations for what you gave up for him ?

Of course, he may get a nice offer elsewhere so who know what will happen.

I liked the guy, he always seemed to put forth a solid effort even when the points weren't piling up. Just probably too expensive for SJ to keep him if Pavs is re-signed.
