You do NOT trade a D-man with this much offensive upside like Ghost.
You just don't.
The return would have to be so big.
I like the Braun pickup. The Flyers D is a little less inexperienced. I could see a big turn around in plus minus which is always a good thing. Ghost and Provo had major issues there last year. |

He's 26 and his cap hit is $4.5M until 2022.
In his 'down year,' only McDonagh, Rielly, Spurgeon, Krug, Seth Jones, Ristolainen, Trouba, Petry, etc. had more points than him if you look at cap-hit comparable D-men/before you get into the $5-9M/year players.
Points-scored does not a good defenseman make, but still... he's a steal for what he is (a 1st PP QB and top-4 pairing defenseman). Makes me wish there was a WAR-esque stat in hockey to sort of show overall player value. |

Corsi is actually a pretty good stat for evaluating D. Since it's based on shot attempts, if it's high it means the D man keeps the other team away from his net and keeps his team on the offensive. Corsi For % might be even better.
Of course, you're always going to have the fact that there are 4 other guys on the ice factoring into all this. I'd hope your Corsi is higher if you play with McDavid/Ovechkin/Stamkos, etc. |
