Unfortunately I agree with you SMH. Fletch has zapped all hope I had of Giroux lifting the Cup with Philly. I hope he doesn’t get a 5-year leash to destroy this team. |

"two arguably better defenseman"? I had to stop reading right after that statement. James Tanner, you may want to sit out a few plays. |

Tanner hates these deals. Therefore, they are the most brilliant moves of the past century. |

So glad Tanner hates these deals. If he liked them, I would have been worried. |

Despite him being right about these being poopty deals, him saying Amac is a good defenseman destroys his reputability. |

First of all, and this isn't personal, but just in general, no one cares where you stopped reading. No matter what is written, it's not worse than saying you cried when someone wrote something you didn't agree with.
I can't for some reason share the link, but if you go to evolving hockey.com and look at their charts for last season, Andrew MacDonald was significantly better than Matt Niskanen.
This isn't what you want to hear, but it's 100% true. |

It was known that Hayes would get overpaid, but at that level I'd pass. The Braun/Niskanan deals are harder to understand. It shouldn't have been necessary to give up the assets that the Flyers did for 2 older players coming off down years with relatively high cap hits on teams that were looking to shed salary.
Niskanen brings more offense than Gudas but isn't as good of a defender and the Flyers have plenty of offensive talent on defense, so that wasn't a need nor nearly worth the difference in cap hit on their contracts (much worse with the retained salary on Gudas).
They probably could have gotten a Braun type defenseman in FA instead of giving up the #41 pick in a deep draft + a 3rd.

For sure could have but we aren’t getting a vet RHD under 4M for one year. Based on Niskanen having 2 years left And Braun having 1, Fletcher didn’t want to have term for vet dmen. Term is also what Gudas would want after this season |

I for the most part like the deals
Fletcher made the team better without sending our young players packing
Niskanen is still a top 4 guy, he is faster than Gudas, better than Gudas and more experienced. He is a great guy to have around the young Dmen for 2 years
Hayes while overpaid, produced at a 60 point pace last season. When you see contracts that are given out to Neal, Evander Kane and Brock Nelson it is not a bad deal. Flyers potentially have a top line C and Two 2nd line Cs IF Patrick Breaks out.
Braun is one I dont fully understand. Is he replacing Hagg, is someone on their way out? Is he just there just in case someone isnt ready? He has a history of being a good Dman and while he did struggle last season, who didnt on D with the sharks? Jones was awful. The D had no room for error. His play should return back to what his career normal was.
Overall I believe this team is a playoff team. Its the same team that almost made a opush for the playoffs despite tanking for half a season. With some added firepower and experience there should be no reason they repeat the 1st half of the season and dont replicate the 2nd half. Especially with a full season of Carter Hart |

"Braun is another curious one as was he a necessary addition? Sure he adds some veteran years and experience but that's a time-based intangible no real quantifiable value. Didn't the Flyers have that in Amac already? Are they not simply pay Amac to not play for them and taking savings and then paying a younger Amac-type player?"
Lol are you joking todd cordell??? Have you not seen AMAC play??? He is one of the worst dmen in the entire league. That is why he is getting replaced by someone capable like Braun. cmon man. |

Whatever James tanner says I would feel the opposite way. The guy has zero hockey sense, minimal blogging skills, and a semi hard on for philly flyers stuff.
James, nobody listens to you. Eklund is more reliable than you for hockey news 😂
