Looking forward to the off-season. Indeed we should do something like your Gudbranson trade, we have all the cap space and many teams are in trouble. We shouldn't make it too easy because there are not many teams with that much cap space available.

Also really love the fact that we will have so much cap space available over the years to come with no long term contracts. Dorion is doing some things right. Would be nice if we can add some veteran presence at the back so we don't get buried every night.

Some thing like this would be a nice team to look at while tanking:

Tkachuk - White - Gibbons/FA
Duclair - Tierney - Ryan
Boedker - Pageau - Balcers
Smith - Chlapik - Veronneau
Lindberg/Brown

Chabot - DeMelo
Brannstrom - Ceci/FA
Borowiecki - Jaros
Wolanin

Not a bad pick, but not who I would have chosen. Almost all of the small guys who succeed in the NHL do so because they are excellent skaters.

Love the Hogberg signing....perfect contract. Hate to admit it, but Dorion has been doing very well so far this offseason. Just need to unload Ceci and it would be a perfect offseason

With whisperings the cap may not go up as much as first thought, there is a real opportunity here to utilize that cap space, even for a team owned by Melnyk.

Agreed on the draft pick. People seem very high on Brink (I'll admit I dont know too much outside the players I've focussed on, but most rankings like Mckenzie and THN have him in the early to mid twenties. (EDIT: Votes seem to agree, as of now)

Since Kalieyv is no long on the table in the mock draft, I wouldn't mind Lavoie, or as mentioned, Suzuki.

I'd still take an injured Methot over a healthy Gudbranson.
and yes I'd make a deal with Edmonton for their struggling player

with that 19th pick I'd take a chance off the board and find some Alfredson in some swedish tier two league that's on nobody's radar. This is the year you take risks further down in the draft. The next two drafts you play it safe.

I like the trade up. The scenario certainly fits with GMPD's current M.O. to add as many picks and prospects as possible.

I think if Lavoie is still on the board at #19, there's pretty much no chance that Dorion passes on him. All of his 1st rounders are taller than 6 feet. Something about old dogs and new tricks. I also predicted (at S7S) that I believe PD would trade up for Lavoie. So I look forward to Day 1 of the draft to see how it plays out.

I also just want to briefly reply to the commenters here. There are two replies here praising Dorion for his handling of the offseason. I would just like to point out that the only "constructive" actions he's made so far are re-signing Duclair and Hogberg. That's all. Both of those signings have very modest cap hits, and while I do like both guys, I don't think either deal would strike fear into the hearts of divisional opponents. Up until this week, all he's been tasked with is tearing the old roster down to the studs. All things considered, yes he's managed to load the Senators with more draft picks. But that's to be expected when you trade away all the established players on your team. The only trade from the "big 3" at the TDL that I would say was an absolute Win for the Sens was the Dzingel trade. If you get the urge to reply to this claim with "Within the context of the rebuild...", please don't bother. Nic Ruzckowski no longer works here (well... sorta). On SensChirp and S7S, I've seen numerous posters fawning over the amount of cap space the team has. Well, until Dorion utilizes that cap space to build a winner, all we're celebrating is the fact that the team isn't spending money on players. You'll have to forgive me, but I can't help but think of the last several years when the team's refusal to spend on player salaries was largely seen as negative. All of this to ultimately say that the offseason has only just begun and Pierre still has a LOT of heavy lifting to do (extend Colin White, trade Ceci, figure out what to do with Mike Condon, and of he's to be believed - figuring out what a Thomas Chabot extension will look like, because July 1st isn't far off).

Critical offseason for the team. I can't help but wonder if that "President of Hockey Ops" just might have been a good thing to have right about now.

Brink isn’t really a safe pick though, he’s 5’9” and had better offensive numbers than Zegras and Caufield.
